“A gem in the chaos”

La Perla is a perfect welcome for the weary traveler. La Perla provides reasonable rates for superior comfort and very personal service. This boutique hotel adds sanity to Leon's sometime difficult to navigate venues. We stayed for only two nights but the rooms the sevice the bar and most of all the owner, Jim Petersen's personal attention gave us a sense of support in a very special Nicaraguan city where we had not previously traveled.

As you step through the gates of La Perla from the hustle and bustle of the streets in central Leon, you step into a palatial atmosphere of elegance and serenity. This is an amazing place. A wonderful staff that waits on your every need greets you as you enter and they will be there to serve you throughout your stay. The rooms are everything you would expect in a first class, four-star hotel with every amenity. The included breakfasts are full breakfasts with fresh brewed Nicaraguan coffee grown on their own mountain plantation served on the patio in an enclosed beautiful garden, also a great place to relax with friends in the evenings. The private pool is perfect for a relaxing swim after a busy day. The dinning room serves gourmet food to satisfy any palette. If you are a gambler, for your evening entertainment, the soon to open La Perla casino is just across the street.
In short, La Perla is the only place to stay while you are in the Leon area!

Excellent accomodations, very clean rooms, excellent staff and personal attention by management. Beautiful clean swimming pool. Restaurant offered fine dining and variety of choices for all meals. Excellent free internet connection. Beautiful courtyards for relaxation. We will stay there everytime we visit Leon, NI.

My wife and I stayed one night in La Perla and up-graded to a junior suite. This was a very nice room, with a balcony (but there is no view from the balcony) but it added considerably to the cost. The standard rooms, from what we saw, were nothing special.

The quality of the hotel overall is very good and it is the most expensive hotel in Leon. The pool is small in a small courtyard area so is adequate for a cool- down but is not a place to sit out contemplating the world.

Location of the hotel is close enough to the town centre but misses some of the grander areas of Leon.

Service was at a high standard and the hotel's own airconditioned car took us back to Managua via the old destroyed city of Leon for no extra charge which was generous of them.

We would consider staying again but next time will book the other leading hotel in town, the Convent, which has lovely gardens but is probably not quite so well speced out.

After looking arond hotels in Leon we soon discovered that La Perla is by far the most modern and contempory hotel. WIth its quite room and pool we managed to spend a relaxing week in a otherwise noisey and action packed town.

We were surrounded by friendly staff and an overall sense of calm. The building has been restored beutifuly and extended with an interesting courtyard.

Breackfast includes freashly made juices and a choice of tipical breackfast, omealet or pankakes although the chef is willing to make a meal to your liking.

It is the only hotel in Leon with a swimming pool which is brillient after a long day in the hot weather !!!

We were so very glad to see this boutique hotel bathed in light the evening we arrived in Leon. I knew this was it- the perfect colonial renovation to do justice to this beautiful city of Leon. We escaped from El Convento which predisposed my husband to an asthma attack on arrival and found the best accomodations in town!! Fabulous staff, fanastic GM and owners who made us so comfortable and lent us so much historical knowledge of the area and the possible future for Leon and Poneloya the nearby beachfront/estuary area. Thank you for your introduction to your passion La Perla and Poneloya!! We had a tremendous time, learnt so much from you all- and we will return as things unfold.
Our room was perfect, plunge pool refreshing, restaurant and bar very metrocontinental and service so friendly and laid back if invited yet very attentive and unobtrusive at the same time.
This hotel and its staff will endeavor to look after any of your needs you just need to ask.
Thank you all!

Drove from El Salvador to Leon to escape the elections in El Salvador last March. Although I don't recommend the drive, the stay at La Perla made it well worth the drive. We went to El Salvador for a two week vacation and didn't realize until we arrived the elections were taking place.

The hotel is very romantic. From dinners in the dining room to break fest in the outdoor garden- it reminds one of elegance seen in movies from the 1940s-1950s. Highly recommend 2nd floor rooms with the high ceilings and the solid wood doors. Something new hotels simply do not offer.

The food is wonderful. We tried a few other dining options in Leon- but La Perla is the place for dining, nothing else came close.

This is a hotel to relax. No stress from the moment we entered to the moment we departed.

One note, if driving from Honduras to Nicaragua, make sure you purchase the $12 insurance card at the border crossing. We didn't because we bought insurance coverage with the rental card- but found out this $12 insurance card is a requirement for all drivers in Nicaragua.
