“Wearactive means playing cricket for Croatia - unbelievable!!”
Reviewed 8 February 2014 via mobile

We searched the Internet for an adventure holiday that was suitable for a 'mature' recently matched up couple meeting up with her 21 year old daughter that had been living overseas for some time. Our holiday with Craig and Xania fulfilled our wishes of giving each of us time and space as well as time together. It provided a great rebonding time for the two girls and getting to know time for the 'new' partner to get acquainted. Not only did they get acquainted but found themselves playing cricket for Croatia and enjoying beer o'clock most days. We found our time with Wearactive to be perfect: the kayaking was terrific; the meals were sensational and we have been using the recipe book weekly; our bike rides and walking ensured that we remained fit and gave us food credits!; yoga on the rocks and slack lining were added bonuses and the sightseeing was simply amazing. What a relaxed and easy place to kick back whilst still getting an appreciation of the beauty of the island of Vis. Our hosts were friendly and hospitable without being imposing and we were always offered many options for our day's activities. The restaurants on the island were varied with food and pricing and Craig had some excellent choices to assist us in picking where to dine. We loved the atmosphere of the harbour and the opportunity to hire a scooter to further explore the island. Wearactive Guesthouse is a marvellous place to stay not matter what sort of holiday you want because your hosts will do their utmost to make it a memorable one. Many thanks to them for providing a place that created wonderful memories for us xxxx From Russell and Sue in Australia and Bronte in Scotland

My husband and I spent a week with Craig and Xania in August to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had originally planned on a more conventional trip to Hawaii, but after discovering WearActive online, we decided to take a chance on Croatia. It turned out to be one of the best vacations we have ever experienced! Croatia, and the Island of Vis in particular, has gorgeous scenery, friendly people, and was easy to navigate as English speakers.

At WearActive, we found just the right mix of activities, relaxation, fantastic food, wine, and company. Like some of the other reviewers, we were uncertain about spending our anniversary trip with other travelers. Our group turned out to be loads of fun. We thoroughly enjoyed the time together (and even spent our free day yachting with the group), but also found plenty of time to be on our own. Xania and Craig were superb hosts, and Xania's cooking was top notch.

An example of a "typical" day included: waking at sunrise for yoga by the sea, cooling off with a swim in crystal blue water, a delicious breakfast back at the house, kayaking or cycling around the island, lunch in one of the historic island towns, an afternoon nap and cake, relaxing at the beach in the early evening, then completing the day with a multi course meal and wine on the open-air patio. Really, could it get any better? We are already counting the days until we can return.

Most couples, after a busy time of wedding festivities opt for a relaxing, luxurious get away which, in theory, sounds great! However, when charged with planning our honeymoon my now hubby cited many failed attempts at relaxing beach holidays. That’s just not us. Wearactive IS us, he couldn’t believe his luck when he uncovered this treasure – kayaking, cycling, yoga an entirely vegetarian menu and lashings of local wine… bliss.
The accommodation is simple, clean and comfortable – many items of the furniture have been uniquely up-cycled by Xania and Craig, which makes the whole experience that bit more personal. The activities are fun and challenging, and facilitate views of the spectacular island of Vis that would just not be accessible, elsewise. The food is utterly tremendous, as a vegetarian to be so well catered for away from home is a dream, and while I didn’t slack from the activities I didn’t drop in weight at all while we were away, which is testament to how delightful Xania’s creations are!
And then there are Xania and Craig, what fabulous hosts and, well, fabulous people in general. They create a warm, homely environment, yet there isn’t the sense of being smothered that there could be when living so closely in the pockets of others. While they ensure that the whole experience is entirely inclusive, as there are other couples/families there at the same time, at no point did you ever feel that you were on someone else’s holiday - magically they maintained the feel that your experience was tailored to your own, personal needs.
I don’t believe my words can do how we feel about our time with Wearactive, justice - you should probably just go and check it out, yourself...

I prefer to relax (lay on a beach with a cocktail) on vacation, even though I am an active person in my day-to-day, so I was a little concerned when my husband suggested a vacation that sounded like it was very active. It ended up being perfect though. In the morning, we got to explore parts of the island that we would not have known to look for had we been off on our own and it was done through fun activities (biking and kayaking). Then you have the rest of the day to do as you please, which since I was in my first trimester of pregnancy and pretty tired, typically meant a nap on the beach while my husband snorkled.

If you have concerns about doing group activities, please don't be concerned. My husband and I both don't love doing things in big groups, but the size and level of intimacy of the groups was great. We got to spend the time together that we wanted and if we wanted to go off on our own, we had free reign to do so.

Xania and Craig are the perfect hosts. They are friendly, knowledgeable and down-to-earth. Xania is an AMAZING cook. Again, I was concerned about the vegetarian food and eating in the home rather than restaurants, but the food was delicious and you still feel like you are treating yourself to good (healthy) food while on vacation.

If you are going to Croatia/Vis, I would highly recommend staying at Wear Active. We don't like vacationing in the same place twice, but this would be our exception.

Thanks again for everything, Xania and Craig! Craig - look out, next time you see me, I will be winning the soccer/basketball competition. I blame the loss on the pregnancy:).

We booked this holiday at the last minute, based on the reviews on Tripadvisor so I guess it is only fair to add our own review, though to be honest I am a bit loath to do this as we selfishly want to keep this fantastic place to ourselves. I admit I am a bit of a researcher and control freak when it comes to holidays (and life!) and I find it hard to chill out. Well I have found my perfect holiday where I felt truly relaxed. Craig and Xania have obviously put a lot of effort into creating this environment for their guests, but make it look effortless. They cater for a mix of people and abilities when it comes to the activities available and there is no pressure to do anything if you choose not to. Activities are decided upon the night before based on weather conditions and what the group are interested in. The location of the house is peaceful and the beach is a 10 mins walk away through pine trees. Nice simple rooms, and the food is fantastic and plentiful, with a good balance of eating with the group and going out a few times to local restaurants. Craig and Xania make you feel like nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely seem to enjoy looking after you. I loved exploring the island cycling and kayaking, and the slacklining was fun and much more energetic than it looks. Morning yoga by the sea was so calming, made special by Zora their dog lying down next to me on my mat. We had plenty of free time to go exploring or to just sit around with a book. For the first time in ages I was able to 'switch off' and just enjoy living day by day. We just wish we had been able to stay for longer and we are already planning to go back next year. Trying out Xania's recipes from the cookbook is giving us a little taste of Vis to keep us going until we can return. Thank you so much Xania and Craig for giving us such a fantastic holiday.

Room Tip: After a day of activities and food/wine you will not have to worry about getting a good nights sleep...

I spent a week with Xania and Craig. I went as a solo traveller and met up with a small group of other really nice guests. Xania & Craig are fantastic helpful hosts who provide a good balance of sports and relaxing pursuits. The accommodation is comfortable, the food is fantastic and the Island is beautiful. I cannot recommend WearActive highly enough. I would love to go back. Omar

We travelled to Vis looking for an active break away from the main tourist trail and with WearAcive we found a real gem. Xania and Craig are the perfect hosts, enthusiastic but equally laid back, they catered the holiday around us. We discovered the fantastic scenery with a mixture of biking the hilly countryside and kayaking the clear blue water.

The active mornings were well complemented with a more leisurely afternoon (and cake!). We particular enjoyed the more obscure activities including picigin, bouldering over water and not forgetting slack lining. The food was another highlight, a great mix of Xania's (and Craig) great cooking plus the opportunity to taste the local seafood and not forgetting Roki's famous lamb peka.

Overall, we had an amazing week; stunning scenery, fun activities, great food and brilliant company, and not forgetting Zora!

Thanks again, Glyn and Claire
