This place is for real. No detail was overlooked in making this a truly Victorian style inn. I'm not super crazy about Victorian-era houses, but it was fun looking through all the knick-knacks, and the wallpaper was gorgeous. There was also a player piano that the owners showed off for us. The owners and their Yorkies are incredibly friendly, and they actually MAKE the huge breakfast spread by order in the morning. The room was also super cozy and the jacuzzi was a perfect end to a long day of playing in the snow. Recommended.

My husband and I spent our tenth anniversary in the Captain's Cabin at Port City Victorian Inn. The inn is beautifully decorated and the history of the house is very interesting to read. We had a wonderful room with a great bed, a fabulous jacuzzi tub that fit us both, and privacy. Our privacy was respected and we were able to come and go any time without disrupting the other guests or our hosts. The WiFi and cable TV was important to my husband and he appreciate both. As a vegetarian, Barb & Fred accommodated my needs without question. We enjoyed the home, the delicious food and the community. Lots to do, great places to visit and scrumptious places to eat! GREAT visit!!

Room Tip: The Captain's Cabin has a private balcony and 2 person jacuzzi in the room along with a sitting...

A last minute trip, found one room available, the smallest room, but very comfortable bed, and the bathroom was so nice, many nice touches, double rain head shower, we really liked the privacy and being able to enter either the front porch or the back of the house with a stairway right off our room, Barb and Fred are wonderful hosts, everyone felt relaxed and welcome, and the Victorian furnishings were top notch, and it was interesting learning the history of the house.

Room Tip: For a specail night, the Captain's Quarters has everything, but we toured all the rooms and they...

We highly recommend the Port City Victorian Inn in Muskegon, MI. The innkeepers are delightful and attentative. The Inn is beautifully decorated and very clean. The covered back porch is the perfect place to visit with friends or relax with a book. Breakfast was delicious and Barb is more than willing to accommodate any special dietary requirements. We will definitely return to the Port City Victorian Inn the next time we travel to Muskegon.

I traveled to Muskegon for business and initially chose the Port City Victoria Inn as a lovely alternative to a sterile hotel room. Turned out to be closer to heaven. The house is meticulously renovated, full of Victorian furniture & ambiance with all the right modern touches (fabulous soaking tubs, tv/dvds in all the rooms, fast wireless, comfy beds ...). Barb & Fred are wonderful hosts, perfect blend of great restaurant suggestions & advice yet sensitive to privacy. Then my second night we had a huge snowstorm, my training was canceled for the day, piles of snow left us all housebound. They treated me to warm chocolate chip cookies, scrumptious breakfast, lunch & dinner, even cleared snow off my car while I lounged in one of the several sitting rooms reading. Turned a potential stranded disaster into a glorious day of unplanned pampering. I can't thank them enough! And I recommend the Port City to everyone.

Charming room in Victorian mansion overlooking the Lake Shore Yacht Club. Step
back in time and tour the Hackley-Hume homes of Muskegon's famous lumber barons. See the Muskegon Museum of Art and view their outstanding collection. Drive the scenic road from Muskegon to Montague and stop for a walk on the pristine beach at Muskegon State Park. Learn about the sacrifices made by WWII naval veterans exploring the USS Silversides at the maritime museum. For a delightful luncheon break, stop for gourmet
dining at the "Culinary Insititute of Michigan.' End your day with a fantastic sunset dinner
at the "Lake House" restaurant.

The price was too high for this location and that is the big reason for the two stars. There's nothing within walking distance, except for the factory down the street. Yeah, you can drive to stuff, but after the long drive to get there, it would have been nice to be able to walk to something. The breakfast was fine, but man oh man was that coffee weak. No hangers in the closet. The room was plenty big and the bathroom was well-designed with great water pressure in the shower.

To begin with, you stated our price was too high for this location. If you check and compare our prices with most up-scale Bed & Breakfast here in Muskegon and Grand Haven that are next to a lake, we are very competitive for what our rooms offer.

You said there is nothing within walking distance. Our front desk is filled with dozens of brochures of places to go and see. It is true, that all are not within walking distance, but there is no facility that I know of that has all the cities entertainment within walking distance. Within five to fifteen minutes from our front door there are literally dozens of opportunities or establishments for your entertainment. All you needed to do was ask! Five to fifteen minutes is not considered a long drive.

We have many restaurants, an amusement park, Lake Michigan beaches, Muskegon Lake beach, Craig's Cruisers, Port City Princess, Frauenthal Theater, Pere Marquette Park, USS Silversides, the downtown Historic Hackley and Hume historic sites, SS Milwaukee Clipper, Shopping Center and Mall, just to name a few things all within 15 minutes from our front door. A more extensive list is right on our web site under "Area Attractions".

If your coffee was weak, all you had to do was mention it and a fresh pot to your liking would have been made with minutes to your liking.

All of our rooms are equipped with first class accommodations, including hangers for the plush robes for our guest’s enjoyment. We guarantee our clients satisfaction and would gladly have given you your money back if you felt that our rooms or service was not what was expected if we couldn't satisfy your needs. All one has to do is, just ask!

We are sorry that you felt that your stay was not very satisfactory. For future reference, all you need to do is mention a problem to any Innkeeper and I am positive any situation can be resolved!
