My wife and I spent two weeks in August 2014 exploring the shores of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. In the process we stayed at 7 different bed and breakfasts. The first thing I’d like to say is that it’s really hard to compare B&Bs: by their very nature they are different and often quirky. However, I’ll do my best.

We were greeted by two VERY small dogs, who clearly could smell our dog on my pants but obediently retreated on command. This is a lovely old house, built I believe in 1877, Our room was very dark, full of interesting "stuff", comfortable bed, a jacuzzi, and a small desk for me to set up my laptop! We had to leave early the next day, so they willingly moved our breakfast time up half an hour. Curiously, the handrail on the steps was quite low.

Definitely a fun place, nice people, great dogs. If we're in Muskegon again we'll try to stay there again.

This beautiful and spotless B&B has been fashioned with the comfort of guests first and foremost. We stayed in the Queen Anne’s room which had a great view of Lake Muskegon as the sun rose and set each day, and we were impressed with the ability to completely control the temperature in our suite with just a touch of our handheld remote. Our bathroom was equipped with a two person bubble tub which was a great way to unwind after a day at the beach. We have stayed in several B&Bs before, but the maturity of this B&B is on display as soon as you enter the home in the multitude of beautiful antiques, Victorian décor, and the detailed history of this home originally built by one of the founding industrial fathers of Muskegon in 1877. Kudos to Fred & Barb who have meticulously preserved the history of this home for their guests and the City of Muskegon. A great front porch with a view of the lake and a second story deck both amply equipped with comfortable furniture and lots of flowers provide an excellent outdoor oasis to kick back & relax. The inn was full during our stay so our breakfasts were not as elaborate as what we were expecting, but as a parent of six children I completely understand meals of individuality cannot be produced for many people at the same time. Maybe next time, we will be back………..

Room Tip: I would suggest the Queen Anne's Room.

The B&B was beautifully decorated. Barb and Fred made you feel like you were with family! They shared the history of the Inn and were wonderful conversationalists and hosts. They made fabulous home-cooked breakfasts and Oscar and Victoria (Yorkies) enjoyed visiting and greeting guests. Such a warm, friendly atmosphere. If you plan on visiting a B&B on the west side of the state, look no farther...you've found the perfect spot!

I stayed at the Port City Victorian Inn with my wife for our second anniversary and had a delightful time. Fred and Barb made us feel like we were part of the family. Breakfast was different each day, keeping our taste buds on their toes. The PCVI was a great respite between our antiquing or sunset trips to the beach. My wife and I are already planning out visit to the PCVI next year!

We spent a long holiday weekend here, and enjoyed our time immensely! The house is gorgeous and absolutely spotless. Our room was romantic and comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was perfect for long, luxurious showers. We walked or rode our bikes to many holiday activities in the downtown Muskegon area. There is access to the Muskegon lakeshore bike path right across the street and we rode both to downtown and to Pere Marquette park. Our three breakfasts were all hot and satisfying. Barb and Fred, the owners, were very helpful in suggesting activities and we enjoyed talking with them about the house and about themselves. They were very friendly and accommodating. It was a very comfortable stay and I recommend it highly for a romantic weekend!

Fred and Barb are the ultimate hosts. We had a beautiful weekend at the Port City Victorian Inn. The breakfasts were fantastic. The room was lovely. Their home is incredible. We took their advice and enjoyed the local museum. The restaurants in town were a delight. The winter sports park and luge facility were a blast. Wonderful weekend - thank you. Dk and PJ

My daughter and I stayed in Anastasia's room during our visit to attend the Unity Christian Music Festival. It was perfect for us! The home is absolutely lovely and the hosts, Fred and Barbara, are so friendly and gracious! Visiting with the new resident puppies was a definite plus! We look forward to staying at this inn again in 2014!

We want to thank you both for your second stay at our Inn...Oscar and Victoria, too, can't wait for you and your daughter to return for the great Christian music festival in 2015. This year's festival was a big success because of many great Christians attending, like yourselves (M & A)!
