“excellent value, our third visit”
Reviewed 13 July 2011

We (retired couple) have recently spent another week at this hotel (our third time) and the quality is as good as ever. Philipe and the Viale family looked after us very well and the meals again, were very good ( 5 course evening meal). We booked Demi-Pension and each morning at breakfast, the evening menu is shown and if there is anything you don't eat (fish in my case) they will agree a suitable alternative with you. All round I would rate this as one of the best 'value for money' places to stay in France. There is a very tempting outdoor swimming pool, and whilst we were there, it was kept in the cleanest of conditions of any pool I have ever used, regardless of hotel category anywhere in the world.
Many thanks Philipe and we look forward to staying again at your hotel.

A clean, well-run pretty family hotel in a quiet and secluded location; the rooms were to a good standard and the hotel offers a good restaurant with locally sourced and cooked food, an outdoor swimming pool with pretty and extensive garden mostly laid to grass.

Whilst not all staff spoke much english we had no difficulty with language. Overall we would recommend this hotel to both couples and families as a good base for your holiday. We were stopping in the hotel half-board with a large group of fellow bikers and the staff always greeted us with a ready smile even when we were keeping them up late with our chatter in the bar/restaurant.

The hotel does offer a wi-fi connection but this is only available close to reception and they insist on using WEP when WPA is a much better standard and much easier to set up.

We have stayed at the relais du Turon twice, first time for 5 days and the recent for one night. The night before we stayed in a Campanile in Carcassonne and the night before in a expensive sophisticated chateau inTarn Valley. Turon was by far the least expensive and the best. Whilst the chateau meal was wonderfully presented and cost 162eur for two the food in Touron was superior and more of it at 86 euros which included two bottles of wine, couldn't afford two in the chateau ! The rooms are clean well appointed very quiet and in a beautiful setting. The demi pension food is superb as is the a la carte. We will stay again when we pass through or stay in the area. only complaint would be the rubber mattress under sheet, I'll remove it next time.

This was our second stay at the Hotel and whereas on our first visit (3 years ago) the owners were extremely friendly and helpful, this time it was not so. The Hotel itself is very comfortable and in a lovely setting with nice grounds and a pool, and cannot be faulted, but on arrival the reception we received was fairly cool and we were not approached any more by the staff (during our 2 night stay) to ask if we needed anything, or simply to chat, until we came to pay the bill as we were leaving. Its a pity, as we were really quite excited at the prospect of returning there to a friendly welcome.

We had the opportunity to stay at Le Relais du Touron for 5 nights at the beginning of May, 2006. We simply could not have been more happy with all aspects of our stay. The room was comfortable, being both spacious and cheery. The staff was very warm and friendly. They provided us with great options in suggesting day excursions and were always available to help us with any questions we had. AND, the food was WONDERFUL. We look forward to our next stay with the Vialla family.

We very much look forward to our next stay at Le Relais du Touron.

Just spent nine days at Le Relais du Touron over Easter - our sixth visit to this excellent, family-run, two star hotel. Very difficult for us to understand comments October 6 2005. Breakfast is optional and typically French - freshly cooked croissants, excellent bread, which can be toasted, orange juice, jams, coffee, tea or chocolate. You can always ask for extra and if drink is cold, as with any hotel or restaurant worldwide, you can politely send it back.
The main attractions are the Viala family welcome, the large relaxing garden with pool and the exceptional food. We have always stayed demi-pension and had the varied set menu - 5 courses (unusual for two star hotel), all beautifully prepared and cooked from fresh local ingredients by the chef Richard. Every day the menu has been explained to us and we have been asked if we prefer an alternative.
All the bedrooms we have stayed in have been immaculately clean, as are all the public areas with no smells, dogs or otherwise.
We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Le Relais du Touron for a totally relaxing, short or long stay, extremely good value, with excellent Perigordian cuisine in the beautiful Dordogne, where there are so many things to see and do.
We appreciate opinions are personal but ours have been endorsed by the many other guests we have spoken to over the years and by the positive comments in the Visitors' Book made by French, Belgians, British, Canadians, New Zealanders, Chinese etc. etc
