“Wonderfully located, peaceful gite with helpful owners”
Reviewed 30 December 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This place was a great find - an old stone building, very rustic and slightly dilapidated - in an amazing, very peaceful and secluded location. It is actually owned by the manor house just up the drive from where the gite is situated and they very obligingly offered us the use of their swimming pool and were incredibly helpful in recommending places to go etc.

It was very hot when we were there but because the house has thick stone walls it remained cool during the heat of the day, though the south-facing terrace was too hot through the middle of the day. The gardens connected to the property are great and there are nearby woods to explore as well.

It is very easy to get on to the great cycle paths that run down the valley and there is a beach and swimming at the small lake at Grolejac. We spent a lot of time down by the Dordogne river and visited some of the beautiful nearby towns like Domme and La Roque Gajeac. The town of Cahors which was about an hour's drive away was a great place to walk around. The gardens at Les Jardins de Marqueyssac are remarkable and well worth a visit - beautiful views up and down the valley. The market at Sarlat is another must see.

The only negative - the bedding, which we paid extra for, had been aired in a house with smokers in and we had to wash it again. Probably best to bring your own, which I think is the convention in France.

Overall, a fantastic place for a family holiday as long as you don't mind a rough and rustic feel and love the outdoors - especially if you are bringing bicycles.

“Fantastic! Highly Recommended!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

I booked this holiday home for my mother in law and her sister who were travelling around France and wanted a lovely comfortable place to stay for the middle of their trip, to have a good sleep, do some washing and generally relax and recharge their batteries and it was just the job!

Christophe the owner is a lovely man with excellent English and was an absolute pleasure to deal with from the very beginning, very prompt at getting back to any queries and very helpful in providing detailed driving directions from where they were driving from.

My husband and I have stayed with friends just up the road so we know the area well and it really is a fantastic location with many beautiful views, pretty villages all around and wonderful towns and historic sights to visit, all within easy reach.

Everyday supplies (bakery, spar, charcuterie, chemist, post office, etc) are within a few minutes drive at the charming village of Carsac, with its historic church, fountain and other attractions. There are also two large supermarkets around 10 minutes drive away in Souillac, as well as the farmers market with fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, eggs, cheese and homemade delights, open every day, just off the main road across the road from one of the supermarkets.

They said Longere Blonde was a wonderful, relaxing place to stay with a beautiful garden and described it as being in a 'delightful situation' and waking to a charming dawn chorus each morning. Highly recommended.
