“Table de Jean”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

Just returned from a lovely gite holiday in Coly, France. This restaurant was 25 yards from our property, we ate there twice and enjoyed each time, good portions, realistic prices and most of all great food, probably the best flavoured and tenderest pork chop I have eaten anywhere. 4 of us ate and all were pleased, a bonus is nice attentive and helpful staff, getting rarer these days in the UK!!!

“If you're hungry”
Reviewed 26 February 2013

We ate there back at October 2011, it was near the end of the season and late night. The service was fair and the food was average. Don't get me wrong average for this area.

“Simple little place, but really great food”
Reviewed 9 August 2011

A pretty simple little place by the side of a minor road, on the edge of a small village with parking by the roadside opposite. Signs outside warn of the unavailability of certain specialties on certain days, and point to a garden for fine weather days. Inside, the space is spartan but roomy, with well-spaced tables and walls adorned with rustic tools and old photos.

The clientele were mostly locals and overalled laborers, giving the place a slightly frosty feel at first, and the tough-looking waiter could have been an extra from a Melville movie, but we were quickly made to feel welcome.

The menu wasn't over-elaborate, but covered the bases of local specialties. Starters were the best thing about our meal, with a truly superb soup served in a generously-filled tureen, and some enormous meaty salads. Main courses were not quite as excellent but still very good, and prices were extremely reasonable.

Definitely recommended for anyone visiting or passing through this slightly off-the-beaten-track area.
