“A very special place”
Reviewed 2 October 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Le Petit Verger was the destination of our grand children's first holiday in France. We had a long journey from UK and arrived at around 6pm, all very tired. We turned into the driveway not really sure what to expect and were delighted by what we saw. Within 15 minutes of our arrival the grandchildren had their swimming costumes on and were making a beeline for the fabulous pool. The accommodation in both the farm house and fire was rustic, but provided all necessary modern appliances. The surrounding garden was very nicely planned and we realised after a short time that what we were missing was the lack of noise. It really was idyllic, and we would recommend this property to young and old without any hesitation. In our case our party consisted of three generations and this property enabled us 'oldies' to have space to ourselves and the grandchildren loved 'visiting' Granny & Grandad in the gite.

Patrice was always available at the end of the phone should there be any queries, and was prepared to go the extra mile to make the holiday comfortable. Yvette, although spoke no English was very friendly and helpful and somehow with lots of hand gestures and laughter we managed to communicate with each other.

We would strongly recommend this holiday retreat to anyone, if we could give six stars, we would!!!

“Idyllic”
Reviewed 17 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We had a wonderful week in this idyllic spot with our daughter, her husband and our three young grandsons. The personal touch of the welcome basket of goodies, both houses being beautifully decorated and also very well equipped, along with a large swimming pool (which was not cold!), meant we spend many hours enjoying the property. Our grandsons also enjoyed going on lizard and frog hunts. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

“A beautiful property in a peaceful part of the Dordogne”
Reviewed 28 November 2016 for a stay in September 2016

My husband and I spent a delightful week in this charming holiday cottage and were so pleased to be able to welcome our friend to stay in the Gite for a long weekend. Both properties have been excellently appointed and we knew our guest would be are comfortable as we.
With one day of bursting sunshine we enjoyed the pool and felt spoilt to have such a large one to ourselves in the heat. We were no less entertained on days of cloud or rain as we enjoyed running and walking in the beautiful, rolling countryside and visiting the chateaux and beautiful market towns, bringing home fresh produce to make delicious feasts in the well-furnished kitchen. Both properties possess everything we could need and even included an invaluable welcome basket of fresh essentials and local treats.
We found ourselves making any excuse to visit the pretty town of Hautefort, which was just 4km away. With an award-winning boulangerie, excellent butcher/grocery/deli shop, a supermarche, a couple of quaint bars and fine dining restaurants it makes the perfect place for a potter and a drink. Chateau Hautefort is well-worth a visit, as much for its gardens and breath-taking views in the surroundings of the chateau as for its chapel, its state rooms and antiques within.
We cannot wait to return, and to bring more of our friends and family to this beautiful property in this peaceful part of the Dordogne.

Have just spent 12 nights at this beautiful place. The pool was a fantastic size and we had trouble getting our four children(8-15yrs old) out!!! The place is so tranquil and really is somewhere to relax! The extra personal touches and recommendations for eateries etc are really very helpful. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

“Beautiful and rural”
Reviewed 12 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

I spent two weeks in this property with my five children and my husband. It was an ideal set up for us as the teenagers slept in the gite whilst we slept in the farm house with the younger children. We ate, cooked, etc in the farmhouse. The property itself was well equipped . We cooked and ate there most evenings. The pool and grounds were a lovely size. The boys were able to play soccer in the large garden and there was even a boules court and a badminton net.
We hired bikes which suited the older children. But be warned it is hilly and may not suit the reluctant cyclist.
Communication with the owner was excellent and she was at the end of the phone when we needed help with anything.
Overall, it was a super holiday. The property was excellent and this area of France was very laid back and welcoming.

“Ideal get away from it destination”
Reviewed 3 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

I have just returned from a week away with my family to these 2 beautiful properties. They are set a lovely 45 min walk away from the town of Hautefort, a walk that I would encourage anyone to undertake as the views of the Chateau throughout the journey are fantastic. Both properties offer their own character, from the main house with its stone walls and traditional interior, it's beautiful area for drinks in the evening as the sun is going down to the wooden gite, which is more modern but equally as nice in its own way.

We were greeted on arrival to a welcome pack and personal note from the owner, Patrice, which was totally unexpected and an incredibly nice touch. In fact, the owner was incredibly efficient, always responding to messages and questions promptly as well as offering additional advice and information occasionally from the moment I booked to the moment the holiday finished. The housekeeper, Yvette, popped in a couple of times and couldn't have been more helpful despite her having to put up with my broken French! Along with a really decent sized pool there is also an area for badminton as well as boules which we used every day that we were there.

Two restaurants in the town that I would definitely recommend would be Les Petits Plaisirs and Auberge du Parc - in particular the latter as the staff were so welcoming.

St. Robert, a nearby town, is definitely worth a drive out to (if you can tear yourself away from the pool) as is Chateau Hautefort with its beautiful grounds. The Wednesday morning market in the town is also worthy of a visit.

Overall this is an ideal place to go if you want a nice relaxing holiday, away from everyday life and I for one would definitely go back.
