I'm giving it a 3-rating for several reasons. Let's start by the positive:
- The location is fantastic. It's secluded, quiet, really nice!
- The room we had had a very nice balcony, so although it was raining we managed to chill out there because they have installed an electric cover.
- The main dish was very, very nice.

The negative:
- It's largely overpriced. For that amount of money, I was expecting a bigger room and a more welcoming staff. Queuing to pay when checking out, the owner didn't even say hello, or 'i'll be a minute' while the other guest was writing his cheque (which would have been easy), nor did he ask if we had a pleasant stay....
- As stated above, there was a strange feel to the place. Although the staff was helpful and polite, we never felt at home. Sometimes in more high-end places, this is due by the staff being professional and on their toes trying to please the customer. Here, it wasn't that.
- The breakfast is a rip off.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a balcony

If you want an absolutely superb meal in this area look not further. It was one of the best meals we have had for quality, service and price. The e45 menu we had was fantastic. Why this chef does not have a Michelin star I don't know. The little tasters were fabulous and if anyone does a better soufflé I would love to know about it. Service from the three girls was slick, unobtrusive and accommodating e45 menus are common in the area, but you could never beat this for value. And then there is the position of the dining room! Where better to have a remarkable dining experience. Thanks to all.

Hotel:
Fine for a 3 stars hotel but nothing exceptional although has some charme as not part of standardised chain hotel. Our room was large (without balcony) and nicely decorated, but the bathtube and shower are set in such a way that although carefull it was impossible (to me) not to transfrom the bathroom into a little pond. Not felt anything close to warmth in the welcome and did not appreciate the owner's dog (rather smelly) lying there whilst paying for the bill. The view from the room is enjoyable and if you plan to stay to enjoy drinking (moderately) without driving whilst having a gourmet dinner, this is a perfect place, otherwise value for money may be a bit streched, but definitely not a no go. (Rating 3.5/5)
Restaurant
The breakfast is a very simple but well presented (yougourt, fruit salad) and the view in the morning really gives you a nice kick for the day.
We also had a gourmet dinner with my parents and the food is good. It does not reach the 1 star Michelin, but food is fresh, offer generous portions, nicely presented with some creativity. However, the Chef specialities were not all (to our taste) the best of the courses, which to me seems a bit odd. In addition, the wine list is rather short. Room for improvement, but we did enjoy the experience and would do it again. The view from the restaurant is really something that also add to the expenrience and makes it definitely a place to eat. (rating 4/5)

The Hotel is lovely, from the lavish lobby, spacious rooms and beautiful floral arangements placed throughout the hotel.
The bed is comfortable with beautiful linen, you will have to find excuses for to stay in there longer!
Breakfast in restaraunt was nice.
Expensive and beautiful, Nice for couples, boring for kids

It's always funny to see people who give a restaurant a bad review just because the waitress and hostess did not lick their shoes. Frankly, I cannot understand anyone who does not find the food here exquisite. I myself worked professionally as a chef for several years, and have very high standards. This restaurant clearly met them. The dinner was more of a show than a simple meal--small tasty teasers between every magnificent course. The service was very efficient and professional. They seemed to know how to serve us without being intrusive, which was exactly what we wanted. Les Venetes is a great romantic weekend escape. Don't listen to the other cranks on this board.
