We were lucky enough to stay here for five days in June 2017 we were met by a friendly carol and bill after a wet ride from Cherbourg, a couple of us even ventured into the small pool when the sun sun came out ! We stayed in the self contained gite which was a home from home. Other friends had rooms in the house some ensuite, all beds comfortable, place very clean and fresh, the games chill out barn is amazing with bills bar, pool and table tennis, one evening we all sat by the wood burner after a chilly ride out. Bill always has some good sings on the cd player and some wicked banter! Being gluten and dairy free I thought meals would be a struggle but carol made sure I was catered for and went out of her way to get in supplies and even made meals I could eat which were delicious, she even made me ice cream!!!! I can't thank her enough, la motte b and b is set in stunning scenery close to the road for acess and not too far from hypermarkets, fuel station and local town, bill and Carol are very knowledge about the local area and gave us directions to some fab places. if we could have stayed longer we would have, hope to see you again next year bill and Carol, lots of happy memories x

A warm welcome from Bill and Carol at their charming B and B as we arrived just before the heavens opened. We are not bikers but as it was a Sunday wanted a meal and Carol did not let us down. Substantial dinner including a meat pie and crumble kept my OH and the bikers very happy. We slept soundly and did not hear anyone come in later! The shower room was very compact but we managed OK.
We had a friendly chat with the other guests in the games rooms area until the rain stopped and I could go fro a short walk.
Breakfast was also fine including egg and ham on toast and we were set for the next leg of our trip.
Thank you Bill and Carol and good luck for the future.

Very friendly English hosts nice room and lovely breakfast .
It has parking and a a barn come bar area.
A good place to stop either arriving or leaving France as only a couple of hours to the Cherbourg ferry.

Spent a couple of nights at this brilliant place, food was exceptional as were the rooms and hosts "Bill and Carol".
Good cover for the bikes, good clean rooms, quiet surroundings and all at a very good price.
I will definately stay there again and hope to do so next year sometime.

I've been riding motorcycles in UK/Europe since '09, usually April or May. This year, the wife and I decided to come in July to catch part of the Tour de France, so instead of our usual tour, we picked a central location to base out of. We found La Motte, near the village of St. Hilaire du Harcouet, run by a charming English couple, Carol and Bill. Great place, nice rooms, covered bike parking, good food, excellent bar/game room to unwind at night, everything you could ask for when you tour on on motorcycle and don't speak French! Great road, D999, is right there, great curves and scenery. Charming little villages in every direction, easy ride to Mont St Micheal, Normandy WWII locations, even the LE Mans raceway. Easy ferry access at St Malo, Caen, or Cherbourg, All of this and the price can't be beat!
