We first had lunch at Le Clos de la Vouge several years ago, and when we returned in April and May of 2012 we were delighted to see that the place is still great. The restaurant is located in a skillfully-updated old building next to a small stream and millrace; some tables are available out front, in good weather, and even more are located behind, next to the swimming pool. Our lunch in April was indoors, on a chilly day; in May, outdoors, and both were terrific. The cooking is very good regional/seasonal cuisine, with several different levels of menus on offer along with a varied wine list. We've tried the jambon persillee, which is a great starter, along with several of the beef and seafood main dishes; all were really enjoyable. Many of the desserts emphasize fresh fruits and good sorbets, and on our most recent visit I particularly liked the slightly sophisticated version of mousse au chocolat that I ordered, in a fit of self-indulgence. Service is friendly and well-paced, indoors or outside, and the overall setting is very relaxing. Next visit to the area, we might stay in the hotel, but we'll definitely stop for the restaurant, wherever we stay. It's small, comfortable, well-situated, and creates a great sense of wellbeing --
