If I could give La du Barry more than 5 stars on tripadvisor, I would. La du Barry in the small village of Collias is a picture of understated elegence. It is immacuately clean and well appointed for an extended stay. It is lovely in neutral colors with a few punches of orange for color.
I stayed in the studio apartment and it was delightful. There is a small terrace outside the front door. On a sunny fall day, it was great for catching a few rays. Inside, there is galley kitchen with a table for meals. It is nicely appointed with a dishwasher, dishes, tableware, and a good assortment of pots and pans and cooking tools. This is the perfect place for a couple to spent a week or more.
The studio contains a very large bed with comfortable bedding, a sitting area for TV viewiing, and a couch for relaxing or reading. The bathroom is large and lovely and includes a washer. For me, one of the big deals was a 'real' outlet in the bathroom. I could flatiron my hair in front of a mirror for the first tiime in 3 weeks.
Jenny La du Barry is a fantastic host and has done an amazing job with renovating this house. It is well done. There are other units in the house. The studio apartment is on the lowest level with easy in and out. Parking is available in front of the house or just a few steps down the street.
Collias is well situated if you like kayaking, canoeing or other outdoor sports (e.g., climbing, walkiing). It is also close to other places such as Pont du Gard, Avignon, Arles, Nimes, or St. Remy de Provence. All were just a short drive away - much nicer to stay here than in Avignon, Arles or Nimes.
Thank you Jenny for a great stay and sharing your beautiful home. I appreciated all of your patience with getting me there (I kept getting lost - I just needed to stop, breathe and read the directions!). I hope to return in the near future.
