Very much a family hotel; the daughter of the house, who acts as receptionist, is exceptionally helpful and welcoming. In summer, meals are served in the courtyard, and the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable; this hotel is used more by those who are travelling for business reasons than by tourists, I think, but is none the worse for that. The bedrooms don't offer a lot of trimmings but are fresh, clean and quite spacious; the menus are not gastronomic but are sensibly conceived, beginning with an unlimited choice of starters from the buffet. Breakfast is again a buffet and gives you a solid basis for your day. There is one day of the week when dinner is not served, but, if you wish, the receptionist will book a table for you at a good, sensibly-priced restaurant which is quite handy to the hotel. The hotel has recently installed a lift; in other respects it is agreeably old-fashioned, especially its shiny tiled floors. It is centrally located, and rooms in front may prove a little noisy, but the town is not particularly active at night and most of the traffic is on the bypass rather than close to the hotel. We left our car on the street with no worries.
