“A little bit of paradise......”

This is a very special place - like visiting old friends at home. Philippe and Andonis are the perfect hosts. Hospitality is unbeatable, food delicious and wine list excellent, as are the peace and tranquility of this hidden away gem. There are lovely walks in the surrounding countryside, and it's a good base to explore by car too. The perfect place to relax and unwind.

Be warned however - if you expect to be waited on hand and foot during the day, or want anything other than total peace and quiet then this is definitely NOT the place for you!

We really loved this hotel. The location is fantastic, the food fabulous, the rooms large and furnished really well and have everything you want. Dinner overlooking the stunning landscape is something we will remember for a long time. You must also join in on the singing around the pianola at the end of the day.

We have had such a great time at Cuq en Terrasses Hotel. Philippe and Andonis are the best hosts in the world. The rooms are well layed out and the decor are fantastic. The atmosphere are warm, relaxing and welcoming. The gardens are well kept and beautifully designed. The restaurant is a must!! The food are just to die for - made with seasonal produce from the surrounding area. Andonis is a great cheff and Philippe is very good with wine pairing. The paino playing after dinner is a lot of fun and a good way to meet people and just enjoy your self. The view from the terrace where they serve dinner is beautifull each sunset is different in a way. We have had such a good 3 days at Cuq en Terrasse and hope that we will be able to go back soon. Philipe and Andonis thank you for being such good hosts we will treasure our memories for ever.

This was by far the best place we stayed in France. This area of France is a hidden gem (despite the weather being less than perfect and the bizarre Carcassone). The food, service and atmosphere at Cuq en Terracces were all impeccable. We loved the singing in the evenings and will definitely be coming back.

After staying here I can understand why this hotel receives so many favourable reviews. The location is ideal with it being perched on the top of a hill with panoramic views. It's very peaceful, the hosts and their staff are very attentive & you are made to feel very welcomed. Our only gripe was the lack of a door between the bathroom/wc and our bedroom.

We plan to return.

Room Tip: Try for a room at the rear looking over the gardens & the rolling countryside

We spent three nights here, but wish we could have stayed longer. It came at the end of a rather "full" two weeks in the southwest of France (we put over 1,500 miles on the rental car). This was just the place we needed to unwind before the long motorway drive back to Bordeaux and our flight home.

This hotel is located about thirty miles east of Toulouse, off the beaten tourist roads, yet close to Albi, Carcassonne and most of the historic "Cathar country" and Tarn. It's in a small village, approached through fields of sunflowers and wheat and beautiful rows of old sycamore trees. Cuq en Terrasse is built on a steep embankment, with the entry level at the road, one story above and the rest below the entry level, all facing away overlooking vistas of fields and forests.

We only say our own room, which was the smallest and lest expensive of those the hotel offered. While cozy, it was very nice, with attractive beam ceiling, skylight, air conditioning, private bath and a very comfortable king-size bed.

We had dinner on two of our three nights there. The meals were excellent and deliciously prepared by Andonis (one of the owners) and his staff, and the service and wine selection was under the expert oversight of Philippe (his partner). The first evening, all guests ate on the terrace, with magnificent views. Our second occasion, due to threat of storm, everyone chose to move indoors before the meal had commenced. While still a good meal, the indoor "experience" was nothing like the terrace.

After dinner, each evening, Andonis take over the player piano and guest enjoy coffee and/or after dinner drinks and often sing along to popular "show tunes."

The property is quiet, well-maintained and everything is done well. The hotel living room is a real delight, with comfortable sitting areas, English and French book and DVD libraries, music CDs that can be taken to the room, and a small PC with Internet room. They provide maps and guides to local sites and modest walks in the area (in English and French). Both owners speak both languages well.

Philippe and Andonis were both very attentive to the guests' needs, taking time to do their best to accommodate our late reservation for dinner the 2nd evening and providing us with their candid thoughts about some of the "tourist attractions" in the vicinity. They work hard keeping this place humming, but are never too busy to make their guest feel at home. A note should also be made about their friendly staff, as well.

Like I said, we wish we could have stayed a little longer. It's a restful place, with a lots to offer the guest who would prefer to leave the car parked and enjoy countryside rambles, the pool or the welcoming living room and settle down with one of the many good books.

Everything was well thought through and prepared for the guests, hiking options, sightseeing, relaxation either by the pool or to your own choice of music in the salon or in your room. The rooms were nice and clean. The hotel is situated on the top of a hill with a great view. The food was amazing on the terrace facing the sunset, a lot of the produce was homegrown. Le Chef finished the meal by playing and singing and got all the guests involved.
