First the apartment - this is very well furnished and ideal for either a short self-catering stay or an extended one - mine was >6 weeks! All the cooking utensils one could need, a dishwasher and wide-screen TVs in both lounge and bedroom and comfortable furnishings. The bathroom is very large and my wifre loved, and made full use of, the free-standing bath.
Next, the location - set just on the edge of Culey le Patry the house overlooks rolling countryside, which brings magically misty mornings in early fall and always a great view. Additionally, Caen and the Normandy beaches are reasonably close (as is Caen airport) and these offer great opportunities to explore history - both recent WW2 and older, William the Conqueror. The WW2 sites are very moving and tell of the heavy sacrifices made for us. Oh, and at almost all of these sites (indeed, maybe all) car parking is free and mostly the places are not over-run with HSE zealots so you can explore.
Finally, the hosts. Lesley and David offer a light-touch - you know they are there, if you need them, but they are not always hovering and stifling you. They do provide occasional meals and if you get the chance, do take the opportunity. The food is excellent - Lesley knows her stuff - the wine, chosen and generously supplied by David - never an empty glass - meets all needs. Some of the food is grown by David and the high quality is testament to his skills. Price-wise these meals are good value and also provide a great opportunity for social interaction.
Price-wise, the rental is fairly valued. You'll see what I mean, if you choose to stay here. Good furnishings, great rural location and welcoming hosts - don't expect to pay cheap motel rates but do expect to be pleasantly surprised at the good value of the overall package.
