A friendly welcome by pleasant staff, a clean and bright room with a small patio surrounded with flowers. A short walk through the wood to several sheltered coves, what more could you ask for?
We hade dinner outside on a very warm evening, the food was excellent if a bit pricey, unfortunately the service was a bit erratic, (a half an hour wait for our aperitifs which eventually arrived with the starter!)
Breakfasts were also excellent with hot dishes freshly cooked from the kitchen.

This is a really nice hotel. I love the rooms arranged around the garden, which are spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and attentive and there are some pleasant little walks within easy reach of the hotel. The food in the restaurant is good.
It is a trifle pricey for an area that is well provided for accommodation, but the ambience easily outweighs this.

What strikes when entering Les Prateaux is the smile of the owner who welcomes us and guides us to our room, or rather, miniature pavilion since most of the hotel is composed of single story adjoining rooms arranged around a nice garden. Rooms have their own small patio with couch and reclining chairs. The entire ensemble of rooms and patios are laid out in such a way as giving quite a good feeling of privacy. The whole setting, at least in late May light, was very relaxing. Even for a short "long weekend" it gave the impression of being on real vacations.

We were 3 people, occupying a twin "superior" room and a double "classic" one. Rooms were fairly spacious, tactfully furnished with matching drapes and bedlinen, and good quality wooden furniture. Toilets are separated from the bathroom; the Superior room had an additional door between entrance and the bedroom proper. Beds were excellent. Two small things: it would be nice to be able to lock the windows in a slightly ajar position for air at night; we missed some electrical outlets in the larger room

Beaches are very, very close; you can walk barefoot to at least one of them in the forest (5mn). The closest beach is 2mn away.

The breakfast was excellent; good quality bread and croissant, toasted "brioche" with salted taffy dipping, jams and fresh fruit. Two of us being amateurs of the US-style breakfast, we also had fried eggs, together with cold ham and a selection of real cheeses (as opposed to packaged). Not being in a hurry, we appreciated not having a buffet but rather being served the breakfast at our table.

We had twice dinner at the restaurant les Prateaux. Remarkable meals both; see separate review in the Restaurant section (Les Prateaux restaurant).

It was our first time in Noirmoutier; we certainly would like to come back to Les Prateaux.

Excellent service. Excellent reactivity from the owner. Nice room ( large and clean ) Great location, just steps from the beach.
Truely exceptional table (half board) definately worth it. Superb wine list chosen with knowledge and taste. However, I would make the lighting a bit more intimate in the restaurant and maybe include some large plants to separate the tables.
The grounds are well kept and cosy and the fake grass did not shock me at all as I know the lack of water in the Vendeé and the impossibility of growing grass in the sand! I rather liked it!
However, I would invest in some type of screens to separate the room patios as they are nice but not very private.
The rooms are large and clean but decorated more in a rustic rather than design style.
Overall a very BIG recommendation.

We stayed at this delightful hotel for four nights this Summer. We had two rooms overlooking the garden courtyard, each with its own outdoor seating area.

My wife and I had stayed here some 15 years previously, and recalled the hotel's superb setting, surrounded by pine woods, and but a short walk from the beautiful Plage aux Dames. This time, things were even better than we remembered: the food is now simply divine. Our "demi-pension" rate meant that we could dine a la carte - which was very good value for money. We had something of a gourmet adventure and our children (boys, aged 10 and 13) were excited by the menu, and chose to be adventurous, sampling the local fare - and really enjoying it. (We think they might have learnt some French too!)

All the staff were very friendly and excellent with the children. Most spoke English well, but were patient with our attempts at French. They were also able to arrange for us to hire bicycles - by far the best way to explore the island.

In summary: this was one of the best family holidays we've ever had and I am very keen to return.

Room Tip: We've stayed here three times, and sampled 4 different rooms. All are clean and elegant (in a ru...

We had a long weekend stay at Les Prateaux with friends who live in France and who visit the hotel frequently. Although we stayed in October we were pleasantly surprised to be able to enjoy surprising warm temperatures for the time of year. We were able to get out on bikes supplied by the hotel and explore locally. The area itself is really flat and ideal for leisurely walking and cycling. The hotel staff were very friendly and the food offered in the restaurant was both plentiful and of good quality. If you do not wish to eat in the local town also offers a good choice of restaurant to dine in. All in all a very enjoyable stay,

Les Prateaux is a slightly quirky but interesting hotel in a fabulous pinewood setting only two minutes from the beach. The building comprises four blocks set round a delightful garden, two sides being single storey bedrooms, one end being reception and public areas and at the other end a two storey Colonial, plantation style building where our bedroom was.The garden is all very natural in a seasidey way-wooden walkways and pebbles and eco friendly artificial grass. All very effective.
Our room(deluxe) was large with a beautiful balcony overlooking the gardens. It was clean and well maintained although the bathroom wasn't overlarge.
Food in the restaurant was superb.Although we were on demi pension tariff,we could choose anything from a fabulous a la carte menu and when you worked out what it would have cost separately, the demi pension was superb value for money.
Staff are very friendly and laid back-no formality here and if you don't mind the head waiter being in jeans and trainers at dinner,Les Prateaux is the place for you.
Another good point-you can get a rental bike direct from the hotel.
A super place to stay.
