Was thrilled to get a great price over the phone, much lower than the website prices. Called around 10:00 am to see if early check in was ok, was told yes so we finished our drive & upon arrival at resort we were told another 1-1/2 hour wait. They call our cell phone 4 hours later to tell us the room was ready. Didn't get to the pool because we wasted the day & sunshine waiting for the room.
Room was right above outdoor eating area, too loud. No other room available for us to move to. Later that night discovered a few spots in the shower, mold. Ov wouldn't stay lit so room kept smelling of gas. Front desk said thanks for letting us know, someone will check things tomorrow after you check out.

Too bad our first experience to this resort was not great. Spent a lot of money for unsatisfactory service

Room Tip: Request a room on 3rd floor, towards the middle of the resort. The balconies on the ends are at an a...

We did not know what to expect when we opened the door to our suite. Wow!!!!! This is truly a
home away from home. We walked into a lovely living/dining room with a fully equipped kitchen.
The separate bedroom & bath were top notch. Each of the rooms has windows you can open
and overlooks the harbor. Lots of nesting birds and country smells can be enjoyed from the comfortable seating on the balcony. There is a fabulous restaurant on site and complimentary
coffee in a lobby cafe. If you want more they'll fix you an egg or a breakfast sandwich which you can take with you.Another choice is to go out for breakfast a short drive away or buy some goodies and have breakfast on your terrace. Close to the beach and to a sister property Harbor Grand.Other pluses;powder room, dishwasher, shower & tub. Truly top notch.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are great but the ones above the 1st floor probably give you more privacy.

We drove a little over an hour from Chicago and this was the perfect break from city life. The hotel is right on the harbor, beautiful views, a short pleasant walk to the main street and the stray dog, complimentary bikes to explore the area and primo coffee also complimentary in the lobby cafe. Our room was like an apartment with a full kitchen, full bath plus powder room, and a balcony to sit and sip the evening away.

My family of four stayed here on a Thursday night on our way to Chicago as a stop-over. We arrived much later than we anticipated and wanted. We were disappointed to miss out on the s'mores and swimming, but look forward to that next time. We were a little disappointed that the restaurant did not service breakfast except for Saturdays and Sundays, but had some delicious blueberry muffins and incredible coffee from their coffee shop (it was a Friday morning). While we did not borrow any DVDs, their complimentary library is quite extensive. Our welcome upon arrival was warm and the room inviting with soft lighting and a gas fireplace. The patio was spacious and the room quaint with just enough space for a pack & play in between the double beds and a small sitting chair and table. The bathroom had a good amount of space with nice, modern fixtures. The beds were extremely hard and, while we actually prefer a firmer mattress, the pillow selection was lacking and we had a pretty rough night sleep. The front desk clerk, however, asked for suggestions as we checked out and when we explained just this to her she agreed that it was a great idea.

We were a little surprised at the surrounding area on our way out. Arriving late at night, we did not get to see the area. Unless "downtown" New Buffalo has a quaint, small town feel to offer, we did not see the appeal otherwise.

I'm surprised and disappointed to read others complaints of dirty rooms and suites/condos as this was not the case with our room. I am also quite surprised at the room rates as we had a wonderful deal with a AAA discount of $89 for the night, granted it was a weekday night -- I can understand higher weekend and seasonal rates.

We were extremely happy with our very brief stay and plan to return as a hub for us to visit Chicago, the Indiana Dunes and Lake Michigan for a few day trips in the future!

We stayed two nights the first weekend in May. We chose this weekend as the rates went up after. Excellent location as we were able to walk to the main drag and to the beach. The town wasn't crowded as it was before peak season but I could see it getting very crowded in the summer. Room was clean and faced the harbor which was nice. Small balcony was a nice treat. Don't know if I would pay $250 a night in the summer but you are paying for location. Front desk staff was very friendly and free coffee in lobby was a nice touch. Small coffee shop sold fresh bakery as well. Nice sized indoor pool and bikes are available for free.

My girlfriends chose this location because of great experiences in the past. The view is amazing... the staff is great... the food is wonderful and the location is perfect. We had some housekeeping issues but after bringing it to their attention, they called me 2 days later and comped the room. The manager was VERY apologetic. So I have to say they have the best customer service ever!! Not only will I be back, I will tell everyone I know that they are by far the best resort I have ever stayed at. We will be back... and often.

Paid $250 a night for a room that was not clean. Hallway on 3rd floor smelled like sewage. Beautiful view and great restaurant. Staff seemed to care less that we had issues. I don't know if I would go back.

We are so sorry to hear that your stay was disappointing. If you are willing, we would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you regarding your experience. Although the cause of the smell has been identified and rectified, and is unlikely to ever happen again, your comment about the staff's response is alarming and does not meet Marina Grand Resort's standard of guest service.
