The shape is achieved by folding in the sides of a circular piece of dough, with a filling placed in the center. It is traditionally eaten during the Jewish holiday of Purim. Hamantashen are made with many different fillings, including poppy seed (the oldest and most traditional variety), prunes, nut, date, apricot, apple, fruit preserves, cherry, chocolate, dulce de leche, halva, or even caramel or cheese. Their formation varies from hard pastry to soft doughy casings.)year round. of Oak parks three kosher bakerys:zemans, bake station, and bake station too (not a spelling error)it has the most authentic detroit style seven layer cake (despite its name).it also has delicous cheese danishes in the morning.

“Best cinnamon bread I ever had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2012

Ever go to a place and buy one thing and one thing only? I'm that way about Zeman's cinnamon bread. I always stop in after eating at Pita Cafe in the same strip mall. But I've also made a special trip for it, too. Densely filled with ripples of cinnamon, sugar and plump raisins, this bread is a killer toasted and buttered. And it doesn't have frosting on the outside to melt in the toaster. Also makes a phenominal French toast! Pick it up and you'll know right away that this hefty loaf is worth every penny of its $4.50 price. It stays fresh indefinitely in the fridge -- if you don't gobble it right up, that is.
