Wonderful B&B in the loveliest town. My husband and I really enjoyed the beautiful gardens and the weather especially, being from Texas. The owners are lovely, and will give great sight seeing advice. I think we saw everything he marked on our map, since the towns are minutes away from one another. We highly recommend this place and hope to visit again for another refreshing escape from the Texas heat.

Having never stayed in a real B&B, my husband and I were very excited. We decided to skip the hotel scene in Traverse City, and stay at a quieter spot. Sunset Lodge was perfect!
We quickly settled-in and made ourselves at home. The owners made us feel comfortable from the start, inviting us in the kitchen while they were preparing food. It felt like home!
Our room was upstairs in the main house, and it was very quiet and comfortable. We had a balcony and a view of the water. Breakfast was served as a sit-down meal. The food was amazing, and the company was enjoyable! The location was perfect for our day-trips to the wineries and lakes. I would definitely recommend Sunset Lodge for anyone visiting the area!!

Room Tip: When you call for reservation, the owner is happy to recommend a room that suits your needs!

What a thoroughly enjoyable stay we had. We fell in love with the area. The breakfasts were amazing, and we are still raving about the stuffed French Toast. I can't think of one way our stay could have been more enjoyable. We stayed in the house next to the main building on the first floor. The room was neat as a pin and wonderfully decorated. Although we generally run towards the "cold " side, we were plenty warm at night despite the cold overnight temperatures. We felt like royalty, and our host was such a nice guy. We just sent the info to our friends who are planning on going. AWESOME!

Located on the hill overlooking Omena, you'll be able to walk to a Leelanau Cellars winery or renown Tamarack Gallery. And Knot Just a Bar has the best bay view for diners. The B&B has several large suites and rooms scattered in large buildings surrounded by lovely gardens. On the back of the property is a warm social hall with large antique banquet tables and a grand field stone fireplace. (one for the adults, another for the kids). That social hall is one of several amenities that allows several families to gather in one spot with the right balance of privacy and group space. The suites have themes and the furniture matches nicely making you feel right at home and in a special place. The lawns are perfect for a game of croquet or take advantage of the pickle ball court. And down the hill is a sandy public beach on Omena Bay.

Room Tip: If you want to be sure your families can stay up chatting on the porch late, ask the proprietors to...

Milady and I were here three nights. Very quiet, scenic beyond belief, friendly service. WOW! We WILL return. Dave & Linda are to be complimented and thanked. What a wonderful place!
Bike paths and rides on the Leelanau Peninsula are nice. Little towns, air field, state park, light house, more little towns, ice cream shops, etc.

Room Tip: Didn't see a bad room. ASK Dave or Linda for advice.

We live in Kalamazoo and come to Leelanau for a few days several times a year. Dave and Linda's place in Omena is always our first choice for a place to stay. The main house has the feel of a farm house of 100 years ago--historic but comfortable. The location and view are spectacular. From an upstairs room in the Wheeler House, you can sit on the upstairs porch and watch the sun set over Grand Traverse Bay. Omena is a quaint little town (if you can call it a town), and it's handy to the places we want to visit--Sutton's Bay, Fisher's Family Tavern, Knot Just a Bar and Larry Mawby's tasting room and deck.

The Sunset Lodge rates are much less than you'd pay at other Leelanau B&Bs, but that's not the only reason we come here again and again. The rooms are clean and comfortable; Dave and Linda are gracious hosts; and the breakfasts are wonderful.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main house are least expensive but we enjoyed the suite in a house on the other side of...

We love this place. This is one of those places that I almost hate to review because I'm afraid it will be booked when we want it. (How selfish of me!) This B&B consists of 4 big farm houses in a beautiful and serene setting with lots of land and a view of the bay. We love the large, super clean rooms, the kitchenettes, the big windows, the fireplaces, the quiet country setting (though just down the hill is the tiny town of Omena and the bay), the large porches, the helpful hosts and the lovely gourmet breakfasts, the many good restaurants nearby, the free wifi, and the price! We had a wonderful time biking the Leelanlau Trail from Suttons Bay to Traverse City. There is also a restaurant just a short walk from the Lodge called Knot Just A Bar with great outdoor seating on the bay, and the best carrot cake (and biggest slice) that you'll ever have. We stayed at Sunset Lodge twice this year and plan to return whenever we can. It's the perfect getaway and a very special place! Please don't tell anyone. ;)
