The location of this cottage was great, overlooking a very scenic lake. We were able to walk to town for ice cream and to play on the beach in the park at Onekama. The house was spacious enough for 7 of us with a perfect layout as the bedrooms were far enough away from the screened-in porch that adults didn't wake up sleeping children. Not only did we have a gorgeous view of Portage lake, we were a 5 minute drive from a public beach on Lake Michigan that was quite secluded so we were able to have a bonfire and play bocce ball without disturbing others. The only disappointment was the lack of a beach area at the house. The sandy beach pictured and mentioned in the listing does not actually belong to the property, which was unfortunate as it was one of the main reason we settled on this property. I would say the listing is misleading. I would not recommend this rental for families of young children as there is little outside area to play. The lake frontage is narrow and has a sea wall drop off. The other side of the home has little yard and sits on a main road with a lot of traffic.
