After business hours you have the run of the grounds/ quarters. The quietest/cleanest bed & breakfast I have ever stayed in. I enjoyed rock hunting, & star gazing immensely. You real get the feel of the power of superior on the large sand beach.

The breakfast selections were limited, but in generous supply.

There is now a museum here now that is very interesting. I love this area of the Up. I have come here nearly every year for fifty years. It has changed a lot over the years but, the beauty of Lake Superior and the surrounding area remains. There is nothing to dislike for me.

The movie was informative. The artifacts at the museum from different wrecks were interesting to view. The keepers house was nice to walk through and the guide did a great job. The beach is stunning with beautiful stones for miles. The entire property is clean and well cared for.

Whitefish Point Lighthouse is not your traditional round brick or block tower ... I learned that Lake Superior claimed the more picturesque version of this light in the early years. The less traditional replacement still has a charm to it and the keepers' quarters attached to it are impeccably maintained and in their original condition. We gained entrance to the home as part of the $13 entrance fee to the Shipwreck Museum on the same grounds. The guide on duty was great. He knew so much about the history of the lighthouse and the Whitefish Point area and was clearly connected to his work. The only thing we didn't do in the lighthouse was climb the tower. There is an additional fee to do so because it is an active lighthouse and regulations required that you be escorted on a tour to the top.

Definitely take time to enjoy the beach here, too. It is one of the nicest for rock hunting (or just quiet introspection) in the state. It seems every time I'm there it's so calm you could water ski Lake Superior. I do hope someday to witness the wicked side of Superior when I'm visiting!

I don't believe there's a fee to view the light from the outside and just enjoy a beach walk, but the rest of the site is very much worth it if you have the time and money to do it.

The history of Lake Superior was fascinating, especially about the Edmund Fitzgerald and other shipwrecks.
