Great Bed and Breakfast! Very close to downtown and the beach, both were within walking distance but we had more fun taking the bikes that were available. John and Mary Jo were wonderful hosts, very friendly and outgoing. Breakfast was amazing, rooms are nice with roomy bathrooms. We had a great time and hope to stay again!

If you like dark, creepy , no security, nosey owners , this is the place for you! The rooms are at least 30 years out of date, smells like a bad cottage. Mostly it is the owners who bicker back and forth all day, and have at least one "helpful" scolding per day to dish out .... parking, breakfast time, etc, etc.....

We apologize for anyone's less than perfect stay. Several hundred guests have stayed in that particular suite, our most popular room, and have not had a bad experience. We always strive to make all our guests' stays enjoyable. Perhaps this persons' expectations could not be met in a 150yr. old farm house turned bed and breakfast.

Great Bed and Breakfast- Convenient located to Pentwater and Beach - we walked everywhere although there was a whole stable of bikes and there are bike paths nearby. Family style breakfast (scrambled eggs one pday, pancakes another) with heaping bowls of fresh fruit, personal teapots, multiple coffee pots, orange juice, biscuits or gingerbread muffins. The house is warm and inviting with shelves of books ( I think Mary Jo.ran the library in town) and a patio on the side or front porch with swings - perfect for reading . The TV room's ceiling (although I am not sure the TV was ever turned on) was covered with baskets. Mary Jo teaches classes in how to make baskets - her latest venture is nantucket baskets.. The house is circa 1866 and well kept up and renovated. There is free wifi( and I think cable) in the house.. There was a small TV in our room but we never turned it on. The gardens are beautiful - John was planting and watering while we were there. The bathroom we had was spacious and clean with free standing claw foot tub /shower and pedistal sink. The home is family friendly - although if you smoke you might want to step outside. The other plus was meeting the people who were staying there and swapping stories and suggestions of where to visit, We stayed in a nice hotel on the way driving home and we missed the Candlewyck House already, We are from central Illinois and we also enjoined the relaxing town, the good food and friendly people of Pentwater.

John and Mary Jo were the perfect hosts. Very casual, down-to-earth, people. Our stay was very short, would have loved to stay a couple more days! Our room was cozy and inviting. We had a great time at breakfast - would definitely go back again!

We cannot say enough great things about Candlewyck House. John and Mary Jo were outstanding hosts. The atmosphere is warm comfortable and inviting. We had a spacious, private room, not typical of many B&Bs. The location is also wonderful- walking distance of the town and beach. Also enjoyed the delicious, home baked family style breakfasts. Undoubtedly best B&B in Pentwater.

Room Tip: We liked the Fireside Suite - spacious and private

We very much enjoyed our stay at Candlewyck House. Very personable hosts with lots of stories to share. Awesome: being able to use the bikes (plentiful) to get around. That is the way to go! Cozy, charming rooms. Great sumptuous breakfast. Will go back for sure!

Great visit again. Have stayed here many times while visiting family. John and Mary Jo are great hosts. Breakfast is first class and never seems to run out. Good selection of teas and snacks. They have bicycles to borrow and the town is just right for walking or riding anywhere. I will visit again and again.
