We stay here every winter for one weekend. Never disappointing. The winter rates are ridiculously cheap. Breakfast is delicious. Check their website for two night deals which include meals. Winter also brings their sleigh rides through Bayview which is really cool. Give them your email when yu check in for future deals. This place actually has super deals you can only get by email.

We had an outside wedding and indoor reception at the Bay View in June 16th, 2012. The planning and execution of this event was extraordinary. The staff made a great event into an incredible memory. The grounds were immaculate and the food from the reception was 5 star quality. I had many comments "best wedding I have ever been too" and I agree. This was my second daughter to get married and compared to the first wedding at another location this was far above that event. My daughter was so pleased and Ill never forget the smile she had on her face all night long. The weekend was topped off with a great brunch on Sunday. I would highly recommend the "inn" they helped create a lot of great memories for all those that attended.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side of the hotel are quieter..also have much better views

We recently spent 5 nights at the Inn and were very, very pleased. From the desk clerk to the dining room hostess, all were coridal and helpful. Because of a wedding, we had to change rooms twice (we were aware of this from the onset). All three rooms we occupied were beaufifully decorated and very comfortable. Thank you for a memorable week!

We recently stayed here for a friend's wedding and really enjoyed it. As others point out, there is no TV in the room-- but that's by design and didn't bother us at all. Delicious cookies on the bed each day and very nice & friendly maids who were very eager to make your stay great. We had 3 meals here and they were all very good. The Inn is very pretty and you can see the lake from the rooms. All in all, very nice. Not a place for kids. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is because of the fan-- see below.

Room Tip: I would recommend staying away from Room 17. It's above the kitchen fan and therefore you have...

Passing by, and took the last room available. Naturally this was not the best room in the hotel (see below).

The Property:

A period wooden building set about 100 yards from the Lake, and ten yards back from the main road. The hotel is family run, and in good condition, clean, bright and friendly.

The room:
The last room available, I was put at the far end of the building. The room had a queen bed, and two singles. No TV (very rare), no fridge or kettle (though a library with coffee and TV was next door for general use). The room was bright and pleasant, but blighted completely by being next to and above the entire cooling and fan plant for the hotel, which sounded like the engine room of a ship. Also, the road outside was very intrusive but quitened down by bedtime.

The bathroom:
An antique iron bath, unusually long and deep for an American hotel, full marks.

The bed:
Middling soft, sheets were poly cotton. A moderate nights sleep, after I had pleaded for the kitchen fans to be turned off.

Dining:
Ate both dinner and breakfast here. Dinner was a steak and shrimp. Nothing epic, not bad, but not special. Breakfast of bacon and eggs. Service was very swift, and smiling.

Ambient noise:
see above. Not a quiet hotel. I think the sea-facing rooms would be much quieter, especially at the southern end of the hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the northern end, where all the aircon plant is, and face the sea to avoid the consid...

We love staying at the Bay View Inn (in a room w/ view of the bay). It's a great location between Harbor Springs and Petoskey with a great biking/hiking train right out the back door. They even have one speed bikes you can USE. The amiance is wonderful, the staff is helpful and the cookies they put on your bed each night are divine. The dining room is beautiful with view of the bay and lovely flowers.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra for a bayview room or you will be overlooking a busy road.

My wife & I had our reception here May 25, 2012 :-) Service, staff & food were excellent! Several guests made a point of telling us how good the food was! Staff is very professional & friendly, Ali, Lisa & Debbie Norris.
