Not generally a type of place I would normally book, but it's one of my parent's favourite places and we stayed here for 4 days for my mom's 80th birthday. The rooms were very clean, the staff very friendly and helpful although we had some food issues (stale biscuits for the appetizer, rolls were so/so with hard butter but Sunday brunch is amazing and the salmon with pilaf rice entree is superb. Overall food was good. The bay water view is nice, wonderful front porch or sunroom to view it from, lots of walking trails available in the area and right on a great bike trail system. We certainly found out how wonderful this place was for service when my mom started feeling unwell on the second day (not from the food or anything, just bad timing of a bug). They immediately put on a pot of chicken broth and found plain crackers for her, delivered them to her room, asked us how she was doing whenever they saw us (and remembered us each time without prompt), always offering whatever she might want or need, just ask. To not disturb her that day, they left a wonderful bundle at the door of clean towels, fresh cookies, toiletries, etc for us to bring in to her. Just wonderful service and attention and genuine concern. The main road is quite busy and I would recommend a room on the back (water side) instead of the front. Overall, a lovely stay (free wi-fi, no tv in rooms just fyi).

Room Tip: stay on the back (water side) as the main road is a bit busy at time the suites are wonderful!

My daughter and I chose to spend New Year's eve day shopping in Petoskey's Gaslight district enjoying the quaint shops and while entering the parking lot at Stafford's were greeted by a pair of draft horses and sled as the snow was falling. What a lovely introduction to a warm and cozy inn. The quaint rooms were reflective of the overall Victorian ambiance of this establishment. We enjoyed the evening's special New Year's buffet and played Scrabble by the fireplace in the game and TV room upstairs. No TV's in the rooms give you a chance to go back to reading and conversation as in the past. We've enjoyed this waterfront inn during the summertime when you can also take advantage of the concerts and lectures on the grounds of the Bayview Association across the road from the inn.

Room Tip: Lakeside rooms available. Even roadside rooms are quiet.

Stayed here for a long weekend over Memorial Day. Views and the sunsets over Little Traverse Bay were amazing. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the food was excellent. The building itself has great character, dating from 1886. Wandering around the Bay View gingerbread cottages was fascinating ( http://www.bayviewassociation.org/history-27/). Sunday brunch was exceptional.

This property is one of our favorites in Petoskey, MI. It's charm and peaceful setting ensure a comfortable experience. The home-made cookies in our room and the Sunday brunch are beyond delicious! Staff hospitality is exceptional and the rooms are decorated tastefully. We also enjoyed the quiet air conditioning in our room that was very easy to operate and accommodate to our preference. We've stayed in many hotels/motels where the air conditioning is loud and difficult to manage. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we'll be back!

This inn is on the Bay View Association property so visitors have access to the amenities offered by the association. The decor of the inn is chintz and wicker. It is a lovely location for weddings, parties and families wanting to enjoy the outdoors. In summer season the music and educational programs draw many people to the area. If you want to relax, there are wooden swings facing Little Traverse Bay or just stay on the inn's large porch. You can read and watch the boaters. It is beautiful! There are also lovely gardens that add to the ambience. Stop for lunch or dinner if you are just passing through.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view room!

Staying in this beautiful Inn was the highlight of our trip to Niagara Falls for our 20th wedding anniversary. The hospitality is top notch, the accommodations clean and inviting, and breakfast was delicious and beautifully served. We so enjoyed sitting in the second floor library drinking tea and soda and watching our favorite hockey game.

Room Tip: We loved our room with a bay view.

My husband & I decided to take a little getaway weekend before Christmas & booked a room at this wonderful Inn. What a pleasure it was! Very Victorian and all decorated for Christmas! Absolutely wonderful breakfast (included in your stay) with views of the snow and lake. We really did enjoy the fact that there are no TV's in the rooms. Each floor had a library with a big TV, fireplace, & two overstuffed leather chairs to sit back in and enjoy - which we did as it snowed & snowed on Sunday. Delightful area - Petoskey has a very quaint downtown with some very good restaurants & we enjoyed walking around town to do a little Christmas shopping. Staff at the Inn was very friendly & helpful. I would definitely return for a visit in the fall next time.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Bay Side are quieter as are the rooms on the top floor. This Inn is 125 years old &...
