On my first visit to the Terrace Inn, I was greeted by the owner, who was very gracious and inviting. The service was wonderful, and the food was excellent! We had caprese salad followed by the planked whitefish dinner and then homemade cherry pie made from local cherries. Although the cherry crop suffered this year, the Terrace Inn was able to locate some before the drought. If you eat here, you must try the pie!

The Terrace Inn is quite charming and the location is lovely and quiet in the Bay View Neighborhood but as the reviewer noted, maybe a bit nursing home feel. All the rooms are individually decorated and make you feel as though you are staying in a private home. Our room was quite large and very comfortable and we were fortunate enough to have air conditioning for an unusually very warm weekend. Others were not so lucky. Breakfast was a disaster though. How you can ruin pancakes and eggs is beyond me but they managed it and it took 50 minutes to accomplish this and we were the early group. Others that came after us had to wait up to 90 minutes for their breakfast and again it was less than satisfactory. A couple of things you should be aware of, there is no elevator if that is an issue for you and there is no on site parking, it is along the street as you can find it. I have mixed feelings about my stay, while I thought is quite charming, it failed in other areas. I might look for somewhere else next time.

If you like old fashioned, yesteryear like places, you will like this. it reminded us of a nursing home facility, and we are not ready for that yet, if not ever. The food was bland- they need to 'kick it up a notch.' Too may othr places with good views.

My husband and I visited the Terrace Inn Restaurant last summer and absolutely loved the famed whitefish dinner. We returned with visiting family members and were very disappointed in the result. The chef has changed (moved to Stafford's restaurant in Petoskey) and the whitefish was bland and watery, and rather than having a whole filet, it was a smaller cut. We really wanted to share the delicious whitefish with our family, but it was a disappointment all around.

While our server was very attentive, the restaurant forgot our reservation and the chef was already closing down the kitchen when we arrived. They reopened for us, but it was a poor start to the evening.

There are better places to eat in and around the Petoskey area. If you're planning to go for the white fish, don't bother.

After having stayed at the Inn two years ago, we were anxious to again sample the Planked Whitefish. It was every bit as good this time as last. The raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing was outstanding and complemented the meal perfectly. We were also very pleased one night with the different pizzas offered our group. When in the Petoskey area, a stop at the Terrace Inn is a must!
