“Excellent State Park”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

During our summer vacation up north we decided to spend the day at Petoskey State Park. The beach was excellent, tons of room for all types of groups, older couples, groups of college age young adults and tons of families with kids. The lake was great, water was cool and very calm, really shallow a long way out so I could play Frisbee with my kids and nephew. Bathrooms were very clean and snack bar had a lot of great options, not what I expected from a state park!

“Camping at its best!”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

If you are looking for a place to camp in northern Michigan, Petoskey State Park is the place to go! Clean facilities, and well maintained campsites, all just yards from a spectacular private beach. We camped here for a week and enjoyed it so much, we can't wait to get back! Beautiful bike trails and hiking trails throughout the park. So much to do in the area, with many quality restaurants and attractions within downtown Petoskey. Another bonus is that Petoskey is conviently located about 35 minutes away from Traverse City (which is to the West) and 45 minutes to Mackinac City (to the east). Make sure you sign up early in order to get a reservation, because they go fast!

“nice beach and a couple hiking trails”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

We toured the park well after the summer season and just before the peak of the leaves. We pretty much had the park to ourselves.

There are a couple trails through the forest, but really nothing memorable.

The beach was OK, but the water was way too cold to swim and it was cloudy and windy so not a beach day.

I got the feeling that this park is mostly centered around the beach. more of a summer park.

“Rainy Week Nice Park”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

We picked the rainiest week to visit this part of Michigan. It was sunny when arrived and not again until we left. Our site was across from the board walk to the beach. The beach is another of the most beautiful beaches we have in this state. Sunset the first night was one of a kind! The rain pushed us to drive through the hills and villages in this part of Michigan. The fall colors on gray days were stunning. The shop owners we met on our tour were warm and welcoming. The park is in an ideal location. Close enough to Traverse City, Mackinaw, and a lot of neat towns in-between.
