I took a group of friends to Sheila Teas hoping for an elegant and tasty high tea. The service was terribly slow and the food was nothing special. The room was very warm to the point of being uncomfortable. We were first served a small plate of sandwich bits - an odd egg salad, tuna, pickled cucumber and ham & cheese. All were "dainty" sized and had obviously been made the day before. Then, after a lengthy wait, we were each served a dry raisin scone (no choice) along with an extremely small portion of devonshire cream and ordinary strawberry preserves. There should have been triple the amount served for the number of people. Then, after another long wait and promise of tea that never arrived, we were served a 3 tiered tray of bite sized desserts. It was presented well and all were tasty. If you do go, I would suggest skipping the full tea and just having the desserts. For the price, my group could have gone to the best restaurant in town and ordered the highest priced item on the menu and had dessert as well and the bill would have been less. I have been to many other high teas, both in the states and abroad, and this did not qualify as a pleasing experience.
