“Friendly volunteers, breathtaking view and interesting historical subject matter”
Reviewed 10 June 2013 via mobile

Stopped at the lighthouse and museum during our recent tour of Michigan's thumb area. The volunteers were friendly, informative and very personable. The museum tour is free and full of maritime history and memorabilia. The beautiful view of Lake Huron made this stop well worth our time!

“Best stop in Michigan's thumb.”
Reviewed 16 March 2013 via mobile

Awesome view of Lake Huron and it is free to look around and inside the lighthouse. The whole building is open except for the light tower which opens only a few times each year. I retesting stories and a ton of history.

“Excellant View, peaceful and a great place to camp”
Reviewed 10 October 2012

There is a park, gift shop and campground there with a fantastic view.
It is away from all the hustle and bustle of life. We love Grindstone City and Pt Austin that are near by too. Great place to relax from your cares.

“This is a hidden historical treasure.”
Reviewed 14 September 2012 via mobile

This 1857 still operating lighthouse appears to be open during most daylight hours. I didn't make it in time to see view from the top but the mini museum is heaped with "treasures". The home of former lighthouse tenders is now furnished as if the family just stepped out for a bit. Charming!
