The Rochester Carriage House is beautiful, peaceful, clean, and charming with modern amenities. We had a very easy, enjoyable, and relaxing stay. Don is a wonderful host who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. He offered far more than we could ever have had time to enjoy in our short stay. What better review than to say we wish we could have stayed longer. And the breakfast...amazing!!! We loved talking to him about cooking and food and loved sampling his culinary creations even more!

Just two minutes from Rochester’s center, I turned down a narrow lane that ended in a security fence across the pavement. After entering in the provided security code the gate slowly opened and I drove through, entering what can best be described as a beautiful oasis within the city.
Immediately to my left, behind a circular driveway, is the white frame shuttered historic family mansion of the “Woodward Farm”, part of the once private agricultural estate of Lysander Woodward, and now home of The Rochester Carriage House Bed & Breakfast. The building itself, dating from 1849, is stunning, and is surrounded with mature pines and elms, interspersed with flowering gardens and ornamental trees.

The decor is one of relaxed elegance with soft carpet underfoot in a living room of beautiful artwork and furnishings, a fireplace and earth tones.

Through a wide arched entryway is a dramatic sunroom with a marble breakfast table with seating for ten and a custom made bar. The sunroom overlooks an outdoor pool and gardens that include a lily pond, a fieldstone men’s and women’s shower room, and comfortable outdoor seating. Wow!

The kitchen is black granite under white cupboards with a matching center island. Chandeliers and recessed lighting provide contemporary and elegant touches. It is in this room that the owner (Don) creates his organic buckwheat pancakes (farm fresh eggs) with Maple Syrup, one of the breakfast offerings. The room even has a wood fired pizza oven!

The property offers 3 large rooms and one suite, each tastefully decorated with care. Soft comforters and sheets with down pillows adorn the queen beds, and each room has a flat screen TV with cable. The bathrooms are roomy with stall showers in marble, and the entire property is Wi-Fi equipped.

There are plans to offer a massage and tanning room, library, mirrored gym/yoga studio, healthy organic breakfast’s, and bicycles for guests.

Room Tip: There is a nice one bedroom suite with private enterance into the back garden. Very nice..
