The hotel wasn't bad...Very nice infact. We were there celebrating 18 years of marriage. The front desk staff is wonderful the pool area was wonderful...The only draw back I had was the room. To me it could have been cleaned better. VERY dusty no way it had been dusted on the last checkout. The box that holds your coffee supplies for the room had old coffee running down the side and the inside looked as though it had never been cleaned at all.....The bed skirt had what looked to be cake icing on the bottom corner....I just fell the maid rushed to clean that room or just didn't care! Other then that I'd consider it a 4 star hotel but on those reasons..Clean means everything to me so I'd say 2 1/2 maybe 3 star...get new maids! The rest of the hotel sparkled just our room was way under par!

Stayed here for business for a few nights in Nov '11. It is an older hotel that has been renovated a time or 2. It feels more like a big Courtyard. 2 or 3 story hotel, very spread out. It has an Irish Pub restaurant with a bar which was pretty popular. The location is depressing, right next to airport and highway, not many dining options around there. I would recommend staying in downtown Detroit or a suburb like Livonia/Novi over this location.

Room Tip: probably want to ask for room that does not face highway

Stayed here for one night on Jan. 4th before flying to Puerto Rico the next morning. Room was nice, clean and quiet. We did the stay, park and fly package which was a very good deal considering that you normally pay 80.00 for a week of parking anyways. The hotel shuttle was very good and prompt. Overall we would definately stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights while doing busines in Southgate MI. The hiotel is near the airport in an isolated area with only a few other hotels nearby. It appeared to be reasonably safe. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The rooms was very clean, but very boxy standard - nothing to brag about w.r.t. amenities or size. The concierge lounge is small and offers little for the Marriott Elite traveler. However the concierge staff was so nice they made up for the lounge. I ate one evening at the bar area and was disappointed by the fare. If I did not know better, i would conclude the food came out of a box! The bar prices are also high. Breakfast was disappointing. To find better food I would recommend driving a mile or two up Merriman Road. A better choice for breakfast is the Bob Evans 1/4 mile away. On my next trip I will stay else where near the airport. Previous reviews have noted at least two other decent choices.

I just returned from a two night stay. I don't believe this hotel is up to Marriott standards, but it is adequate for a short stay. The rooms are clean but in need of a update. The room temperature is hard to regulate. I travel from this location quite often, so I try to switch around staying at the different airport hotels. I prefer the Courtyard which is beside this hotel (it's also cheaper). The food is fair at best. There are several nice places to eat that are close. The beds are comfortable. I didn't use the pool this trip, but I have enjoyed it in the past. My advice is to try the Hilton Gardens or Courtyards before you pick this location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a refrigerator, not all have them and the ice machines aren't very close to...

Stayed here for two nights. The area around the hotel is rather bleak, but safe enough. The hotel doesn't look all that attractive from the outside, but it's clean and comfortable inside. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The room are clean and well-appointed with large LCD TVs (but no digital/HD content as of December 2011). The room is slightly small compared to most Marriotts. The bathrooms are average Marriott size (that is, small). The room air-conditioning is relatively quiet, and the rooms are soundproofed adequately. Despite the proximity to a major airline hub, I didn't hear any airplane noise during my stay. The Concierge Lounge is small but provides the basic amenities for elite customers. Perhaps my only complaint is about the restaurant, where the food is greasy bar fare and the wines by the glass are priced outrageously ($9.75 a glass for a wine that sells for $8 a bottle in the grocery store). If you have a car, you're better off driving a quarter mile north to Leonardo's Italian Grille for your dining pleasure.

Room Tip: Away from the Interstate highway
