This year for our shopping trip we stayed at the Residence Inn. The reasons we chose this hotel were the competitive price and curiosity about the hotel (it’s a relatively new hotel in this part of Saginaw).
The lobby area is very large, and features a billiards room and a library / lounge with free Hi-Speed Internet. There is also a small room serving as a store where you can buy pop, snacks, etc.
The indoor pool area is well maintained, though dimly lit. There is also a separate exercise room.
Our room was also huge! Although not a suite, it had living room, kitchenette and bedroom areas. The room was very well kept, and the kitchenette was a great convenience. For travelers who want to prepare their own meals, the hotel provides a service where you write up a grocery list and they do your shopping!
There is a complimentary breakfast available, with hot dishes in addition to the typical continental breakfast choices. Although we stayed on a weekend, I understand that during the week, dinner is also available.
The only negatives we found were that the ventilation fan in the bathroom was noisy, and the pillows were not very comfortable.
Overall, this is a great hotel. The typical prices are more than for nearby hotels, but you get more for the extra price. Also, if you can get a rate here that is comparable to other nearby hotels, definitely stay at this hotel!
