Not hungry enough for the buffet, so we tried the deli for the first time, and we were not disappointed. Many choices at good prices. Wife had the Beef stew which was excellent, I had chili cheese fries, which is a meal in itself. Good job, deli. We will definitely try you again.

Just arrived and I am again disappointed.

We've been coming to this casino/hotel for about 6 years now and, as we just retired, figured we'd plan on 4-6 (2-3 day) ventures a year. But we have had to face the hard facts that both the accommodations and service have steadily declined over the years.

At first, it was the intermittent issue, such as a drain or showerhead not functioning. Or maybe a bee's nest on the balcony. But these sorts of issues are now the norm. The rooms are dingy and maintenance issues are not addressed prior to our arrival. So we have to take care of them while here and sometimes they still don't get fixed. Housekeeping, which has always been outstanding and for which I have typically tipped $5 a night, is now marginal. When we checked in, the desk in the room was dirty, the carpet badly stained, and the balcony was absolutely filthy with bird and insect droppings. We were supposed to get a fridge (as per our reservation) but they did not have any available when we arrived.

But I noticed something that I found revealing on this and the last visit. Housekeeping is no longer friendly. They don't smile, they barely return a greeting, and the cleanliness of the rooms is annoyingly bad. And I do not recognize housekeeping people who we had previously known by their names. It appears there has been a lot of turnover here (housekeeping, front desk, and food service) and that usually means a management issue, especially in an area like this where jobs are not easy to acquire.

The last time we were here, I filled out the survey form that came with the room and mailed it to the company's main office. I had some legitimate complaints (the clothing drawers would not open and the television did not work for the duration of the visit. And though we made management aware of this while we were there and then the main offices after we had arrived back home, we never heard back. That's insulting. It's like going through the motions to says 'we care' but not really caring one bit.

Still, we came again because my wife likes the slots and to be able to navigate between the room and the casino floor 5-6 times a day. But even she is getting tired of this nonsense and we will most likely make this visit our last, as the 'strip' has other modern hotels, such as Best Western, Holidays Inn Express, Quality Inn, etc. There are even some very nice small motels for 1/2 the price that we pay. Or we'll go to Mt. Pleasant, Battle Creek, or elsewhere.

It's not worth the $100 a night.

Room Tip: I think you'll find that your requests made at the time of your reservation will be ignored.

Our family of 4 had a nice room with 2 queens. The lobby and casino are smoky but the room was not at all. We enjoyed breakfast in the dining room. Very good experience and excellent value in this touristy area.

Just finished a 3 night stay. As always the rooms are very clean, the casino is clean and the public washrooms are spotless. Enjoyed the food at the deli and it was very reasonable. Looking forward to our next stay.

Went up to St.Ignace to see family and gamble a little. Chose to stay at the casino due to its location. My room was just ok, not modern, not spacious and the bed spreads looked very wore out. The meals I had at the buffet restaurant were very good with breakfast being the best. The deli also made a great club sandwich. As for the casino I thought it was fine though small with the poker room being very well run. Most of the staff I spoke with were very friendly. Although there did seem to be pairs of staff walking the floors who seemed to grumble a bit about their work there. I did get the free play coupons each day and $15 voucher for fuel.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the 3rd floor facing the lake.

We stayed here on our way to Mackinac Island and quickly found that St. Ignace has a limited amount of attractions so it was nice to stay somewhere with evening entertainment. The hotel also has a nice indoor pool and hot tub that we took advantage of. Our room was spacious and relatively comfortable. The casino gives you "free play" when you check in so you can enjoy some gambling without even spending any money. We of course did later spend our own money, but we enjoyed the low betting limits and remained entertained for several hours, ultimately leaving with more money in our pockets than we walked in with.

Stayed four nights with family, this was great. The hotel room was spacious, clean, modern and very comfortable. Beds were just right for firmness and soft. We had a balcony room (only 6 on each floor) upgrade, so our view was tremendous, looking over the spacious lawn which leads down into Lake Huron. Bathrooms very clean, modern with all the amenities you'd find in a chain hotel. The casino was a little smokey (it's a casino, after all!) but not bad - it never seemed to "drift" into the rest of the hotel or lobby. Casino staff was equally friendly and fun, like everyone else there; typical UP hospitality! Location is great, in that you're only a couple of minutes from the shops and restaurants in St. Ignace, yet you're away from the hustle of tourist traffic. Very easy access from the highway. Overall, loved this place - and was the least expensive hotel we found for July!

Room Tip: Join the Northern Rewards players program: we received a $10 PER DAY slots credit!
