Rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. We had a room with a lake view, very nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. By booking this early, we got a very reasonable rate considering it was the peak season for that area.

We used the buffet for breakfast one day and thought it was pretty good, so we went back for dinner and it was not good at all.

In July, we stayed in room 314 and had the same issues as Ed W regarding the same sort of insect nest on the balcony, drawers that were hard to open, and a filthy balcony (and the balcony view of the bay is why I come and where I relax). If he stayed in the same room, it's a shame that those issues were not corrected between his visit and our visit. We told the staff and figured that it would be corrected, if not while we were there, then soon after.

Housekeeping has always been great but maintenance seems to be a bit out of tune with the condition of the rooms. Not dirty - just rather worn carpeting.

The casino is always clean and lively. Nice to have free coffee and soda, as well as clean restrooms. Good place to lose money (lol)

The food service seems to have taken a step down in some rather odd ways. The lettuce and tomatoes in the salad bar were ridiculously huge - as if someone just didn't take the time to cut them up. Seriously, it looked like the tomatoes were quartered and the lettuce heads cut into eighths. The ice cream machine was down and then gone. And the buffet wasn't appetizing enough for the $14.99 person. We used to eat all our meals at the Horseshoe Bay Restaurant. Aside from breakfast, we are now eating in town more often.

These are not huge issues. In fact, they seem small enough to us that they could be corrected rather easily and quickly.

We returned a few weeks ago. Different room, no balcony, and no fridge. I just let it go. Simply wasn't a big enough deal. I mention it because it seems to also be happening to others.

We're going to try a different hotel in St. Ignace in September and see how it goes. Kewadin is just so convenient that I wish we didn't have a reason to look elsewhere. We have reservations in October and November. We're hoping for a better experience.

Room Tip: You can evidently request a view of the bay but not a balcony. That disappoints me but the alternati...

We stayed here for 2 nights mid-August and found the hotel to be very nice. It does show some wear here and there, but overall was clean and everything was functional. The staff was friendly, especially the restaurant staff (Mary?), who went above and beyond for my daughters birthday. They gave her a mini cake as well and joined in singing Happy B-day with a senior citizen tour group. It made my daughter feel special. Thanks again. Overall, I would stay here again no questions asked. I do wish the slots were a little looser next time......
One tip...the restaurant closed at 9pm and as we are late eaters had to use the Deli, which worried me at first, but the food from there was excellent as well and selection was decent.

Not hungry enough for the buffet, so we tried the deli for the first time, and we were not disappointed. Many choices at good prices. Wife had the Beef stew which was excellent, I had chili cheese fries, which is a meal in itself. Good job, deli. We will definitely try you again.

Just arrived and I am again disappointed.

We've been coming to this casino/hotel for about 6 years now and, as we just retired, figured we'd plan on 4-6 (2-3 day) ventures a year. But we have had to face the hard facts that both the accommodations and service have steadily declined over the years.

At first, it was the intermittent issue, such as a drain or showerhead not functioning. Or maybe a bee's nest on the balcony. But these sorts of issues are now the norm. The rooms are dingy and maintenance issues are not addressed prior to our arrival. So we have to take care of them while here and sometimes they still don't get fixed. Housekeeping, which has always been outstanding and for which I have typically tipped $5 a night, is now marginal. When we checked in, the desk in the room was dirty, the carpet badly stained, and the balcony was absolutely filthy with bird and insect droppings. We were supposed to get a fridge (as per our reservation) but they did not have any available when we arrived.

But I noticed something that I found revealing on this and the last visit. Housekeeping is no longer friendly. They don't smile, they barely return a greeting, and the cleanliness of the rooms is annoyingly bad. And I do not recognize housekeeping people who we had previously known by their names. It appears there has been a lot of turnover here (housekeeping, front desk, and food service) and that usually means a management issue, especially in an area like this where jobs are not easy to acquire.

The last time we were here, I filled out the survey form that came with the room and mailed it to the company's main office. I had some legitimate complaints (the clothing drawers would not open and the television did not work for the duration of the visit. And though we made management aware of this while we were there and then the main offices after we had arrived back home, we never heard back. That's insulting. It's like going through the motions to says 'we care' but not really caring one bit.

Still, we came again because my wife likes the slots and to be able to navigate between the room and the casino floor 5-6 times a day. But even she is getting tired of this nonsense and we will most likely make this visit our last, as the 'strip' has other modern hotels, such as Best Western, Holidays Inn Express, Quality Inn, etc. There are even some very nice small motels for 1/2 the price that we pay. Or we'll go to Mt. Pleasant, Battle Creek, or elsewhere.

It's not worth the $100 a night.

Room Tip: I think you'll find that your requests made at the time of your reservation will be ignored.

Our family of 4 had a nice room with 2 queens. The lobby and casino are smoky but the room was not at all. We enjoyed breakfast in the dining room. Very good experience and excellent value in this touristy area.

Just finished a 3 night stay. As always the rooms are very clean, the casino is clean and the public washrooms are spotless. Enjoyed the food at the deli and it was very reasonable. Looking forward to our next stay.
