I'm currently staying two nights here during a pond hockey tournament and am not impressed. Well, first management used the fact that most of the hotels in the area are full to charge $150 plus (the other hotels were charging $70-100) a night for a room that would have been shady back in the 1980's. Everything is old; the TV is, at best, a 1980's style 20'' TV for which the remote didn't even work. There was mold in the bathroom, the mirror was scratched, TP in the toliet and everything looked like it was bought out of a garage sale. I wouldn't of cared had it been a $50-70 room, but for a $150 room, come on.

We asked management to move to an inside room, which looked better, but they wouldn't move us and, as we had pre-paid for the room, wouldn't refund our money. Simply put, I hate to bash a locally run company, but don't stay here, there's a million better options out there

Chris,
Sorry you felt this way, We strive to accommodate all our guest to the best of our ability. Pond Hockey is a very large event for our little town and our price is based on the number of guests in the room and compared to other hotels with the same amenities in our area. Yes, you may have found a cheaper hotel with no pool, hot tub, or breakfast and if this is what you desire for that weekend i suggest you talk to your group leader who booked this room.
Your group leader was informed of the rustic nature of this particular room a long time before your arrival, given it is not attached to our main building and used mainly as overflow on busy weekends we have only begun to upgrade these rooms. We strive to update our rooms every year and have recently installed new beds, bed spreads,&TV's in our main building and new bathroom flooring in our annex building including the room you were assigned.
In regards to you request to move, even if I had a room available, being asked to move on a Saturday night after my cleaning staff left , just because you wanted a bigger TV was not a reasonable request for that day.
Thank you for your comments

I was greeted by a friendly gentlemen at the desk for a smooth check in. My room passed the white glove inspection w/ flying colors. The Jacuzzi was so relaxing and the kids enjoyed the pool too. Man @ the desk even gave us some great adventure ideas for our family to enjoy including a bowling alley w/ the best food ever. Thanks Glen!!!

Room Tip: Try their ATV rentals.

Thick black mould round the wash hand basin, hairs in the bath, dust under the sink. A bed that threatened to collapse because of a broken leg (noticed only after we were all unpacked and too tired to move) Luckily I'm skinny and could sleep on the "good half" of the bed without being tipped onto the floor. Dust and papers under the beds.
The smell of popcorn from the lobby was unpleasant.

The manager's attitude to my discreetly mentioning the bathroom and bed problems was to tell me that one wing had just received new beds and the other wing would receive theirs soon. No reaction to the mention of mould at all. It's a serious problem and should be dealt with.
The only positive thing was real glass glasses in the room.

This is not a accurate representation of my property. This guest did not say a word until check out, giving us no chance to rectify the issue, (the foot simply fell off the bed and was fixed in 30 seconds), she never mentioned any other problem at the time and gave us no reason to assume they were dissatisfied.

This is a well-worn hotel, but very clean. Everything in the room is worn and old, from the bedspreads to the furniture. However, the beds were surprisingly comfortable. Because of the comfort of the beds and the cleanliness of the room and the hotel, we would definitely stay there again if we are just passing through town and need a place to sleep. The cost of the room was significantly less than other hotels in the area. The front staff was very polite. The popcorn machine in the lobby is a nice touch. Should you have a desire to tan while you are there, they also have a tanning bed business in the hotel! The pool is adequate and there are approximately 4 hotel rooms directly across from the pool. Parking is directly behind the hotel and was convenient to our room, which was accessed from the parking lot by a computerized key (not a key card). The provided breakfast was very basic, no frills. We opted for food outside of the hotel instead. This hotel is just off the St. Ignace exit of I-75 north on US2. There is a McDonald's and a Big Boy directly west, about 1/2 mile.

We stayed one night with 5 of us. 2 queen beds and an Aerobed was a bit tight, but we expected that. The price was much better than Mackinaw City and they gave us a ferry discount. Breakfast was usual fare and pool area was relaxing after walking all day on the island.

We chose this hotel because of the availability of snowmobile rentals. We are glad we did! It is conveniently located right across the bridge from Mackinaw City as well as near the ferry to Mackinac Island, and is right near some of the most amazing snowmobile trails ever.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean. We enjoyed the in-room Jacuzzi tub as well. It is not a luxury hotel, so don't expect that, but it's a good place to stay and is reasonably priced. The snowmobile rentals were great. We left right from the parking lot and traveled over 80 miles of amazing and gorgeous trails that day. If you are looking for a place to stay that rents snowmobiles, this is the place. We kind of fell in love with St Ignace over the summer and this trip in the winter confirms it. Thank you Voyager Inn staff!
