“Magnificent artifacts but not much decor.”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

This "museum" is free but looks a bit thrown together. The walls are bare and the floors cement. There are lots of very interesting weapons and Indian artifacts to be sure and that is why it has a good rating. But the decor and atmosphere needs to be improved. There is no flow at all to the traffic and the mood is rather dismal, like a warehouse feel. Some exhibits were still under construction. The content is great, just needs spiffed up a bit.

“My visit to Fort de Baude Museum”
Reviewed 18 May 2012

If you've never visited Fort de Baude you need to go cause it's a sight to see. They don't charge addmission like some do but they'll accept a donation.

You will see many beautiful displays and one you may like to visit is the Santigo display. Not that all of the displays aren't nice.

I can't say enough good things about the manager and her staff who are there.

“A hidden treasure”
Reviewed 22 December 2011

A friend and I had the good fortune to visit this museum when it was in danger of being dismantled and lost to history - fortunately, the fates stepped in and the collection was saved. Since our first visit, it has been sorted, cataloged, rearranged and new displays set up - an on going endeavor, to be sure. I HIGHLY recommend a stop at this delightful hidden gem; the history of not only St. Ignace is represented, but also of northern Michigan, Ontario and Quebec - all their histories are tied together to create the circumstances that led to the existence of a great many of us! If you're unsure as to how this could be - visit the museum! Enjoy! (by the way, I did not visit in 2011 but had to pick a date to submit this. I visited in 2007 and 2010 - I think......)
