“Early Season Not the Best time”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2011

Arriving late Thursday evening it was nice to see we had a ground level room. The motel had just opened for the season three days earlier so we were surprised to find our room with the heat turned off. The room was in the forties and it took the small wall unit several hours to warm the room to a level of comfort. The room was small but nice. There was a door wall that led to the outside for a wonderful view of Lake Huron and Mackinaw Island. For a budget motel it was fine.

We liked the location and view. We were on 2nd floor which had balcony with table and chairs. We had great view of Mackinac Island and St. Ignace harbor. They have a nice indoor pool, although it is in a seperate building.

The room had a beautiful view...BUT, the door jam just fell off since it had been put there with tiny screws! The hot tub was luke warm and jets so low they couldn't make a bubble. We tried to add more hot water but the water came out cold. There was no Internet (as advertised on the web), because we were in a 'dead zone'. When we complained, we were not offered another room and next day after complaining again were told 'we don't guarantee internet'.
the 'healthy breakfast' was a joke. Stale buiscuits and...was that gravy? NO TOAST ! no bagels, or cream cheese or even peanut butter. No bacon as advertised on the web. But there were some stale english muffins to toast - but no real butter. There were two bananas and some wrinkly apples in the 'fresh fruit basket'. No real cream - just the powdered stuff. When we complained, the response was smug and rude.
Too bad for them. We would never go back there!

The Quality Inn on the Lakefront is a hotel I've stayed at a few times the beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean, Most rooms are right on a nice sandy beach they have a pool & hot tub and fast wii fii. The only thing that was slightly annoying is the shower head in are room was very short and you had to lean back to wash your hair but other then that this is a great place to stay!!

Our vacation was 10 days recently...4 days in Lower Peninsula and 6 days in Upper Peninsula. Except for our lodging arranged by Black Lake Golf Club (UAW Family Education Center), we stayed at 3 other hotels besides Quality Inn Lakefront. Each hotel was pricier than the Quality Inn Lakefront. By far, the best room was with them. The room was large with a king bed that is the best hotel sleeping experience ever. I could tell that the sheets are top-quality with a high thread count. The pillows and light down comforter are somethings I would like in my own home. The location is right on Lake Huron and the water was very nice. We enjoyed our stay there and would return again.

Our room had dirty carpeting (a silver cat, an Advil, and food crumbs) on it when we checked in; it also have multiple bug and spider webs along the upper ceiling. This we can deal with, but our next day was infuriating. When we came back to the room on our 2nd day, neither bed was straightened or made up, the trash cans were left full, plus, the staff took our wet towels out of the tub, but never re-supplied them. When I called the main office @ ~1925, I politely explained our situation. The gentleman at the desk asked us if we put out any signs on the beds, and I told him that there were no signs in the room available to put on the beds about bed making or linen conservation. I requested to have housekeeping come to the room to make the beds, empty our trash, as well as supply us the bath linens that were taken. He stated that "Housekeeping is gone for the day" but he could bring us some linen. I told him that we would want the linen, but that the evening staff was worthless in customer service.

Although our view off the patio was pretty, the sand was littered with dog poop.

We would not suggest staying here unless you are willing to pay the cost they want for this type of service.

It's an older hotel, but clean & well maintained. Our room had a mini fridge & coffee maker, but wifi didn't work there, but would up at the main office building. It's biggest asset is it's built right on the shore of beautiful Lake Huron & all the rooms have patio doors embracing the view! We were traveling with our dog & we could walk her along the beach. If you're a family with kids, they'd enjoy playing in the sand right outside the patio door. Right off the shore was a family of white swans. Very peaceful & relaxing.
