“Nice stay”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

This stay was for an anniversary weekend in August 2014. Dove's Nest was very enjoyable. Our host, Jitka (say yitka) was very pleasant. She started by giving us a tour of the dining room and common area. Then we walked out side to see the grounds. They have a very nice back yard full of trees and evergreens for seclusion as well as a deck and patio area. On the side there is a small, secluded pond with seating. There are several places to sit outside and relax. They also had a fire pit available to use in the evenings. We dined outdoors for breakfast each morning which was a nice way to start our day.

On the main floor is their two bedroom suite and upstairs there are three rooms. We stayed in the Pond View room. The rooms were spacious and well furnished. Plenty of closet space and dressers to unpack your clothes and stay a while. Exceptionally comfortable mattress. My wife wanted to pull the sheets up to see what kind it was but we forgot. You will sleep well!

The room had a HD flat screen TV with Blue Ray player that could connect to the internet. Very high end technology for a B & B. You could play Pandora or watch a number of steaming video services (i.e. Netflix and others) if you have your account info. Wi-Fi in the room was adequate, probably a little better down stairs.

We had three windows on two walls for nice ventilation, but they do have central air as well. We did not need to turn on the fireplace that looks like it would provide legitimate heat if needed.

Jitka had a nice variety of brochures showing activities in the area as well as menus of local restaurants. She gave us a couple of her recommendations.

Morning breakfasts were outstanding. Three course breakfast each day with unique recipes that were very tasty.

All in all a great stay and we would recommend to others.

Things to do in the area include visiting St. Joseph (10 min drive) for beaches, dining and boutique shopping, winery tours and fishing in Lake Michigan.

Room Tip: It looked like any room would be nice.

The location was great in a nice quiet area but close to neighboring cities such as St. Joseph which is beautiful. We were also close to several wineries near and in Baroda which were also nice. We were served a wonderful breakfast both mornings and the owner was very welcoming, friendly, and provided us with information and suggestions for places to check out. We stayed in the royal oak room for ouranniversary and it was very beautifully decorated and had a nice, cozy, home feel.

We were expecting the 'charm' of the exterior as we drove up. It looked like a house built in the 80's for the sole purpose of a B&B. We never met or saw John and after reading the reviews were excited to at least hear one story, though we heard he was there :)
Our reception upon arrival seemed chilly with very little instruction on TV operation or offering us the Internet password. We never did figure out how to 'turn on' the fireplace in our room. The best part was talking at breakfast with the 2 other couples who were also visiting!

The house was built as a family home in 80's and converted to B&B 3.5 years ago. Internet password for WIFI is displayed in each room (black print on pink laminated paper for easier noticing). Since your stay we added written instruction on how to operate TV remote control. Sorry, we did not explain how to turn the button on el. fireplace since it was a warm July night .
We always encourage our guests to ask us if they need help with anything. We are just a few meters or a phone call away. Jitka

We have just returned from our stay in The Royal Oak Room at The Dove Nest. We, reluctantly, said our farewells to the owners, Jitka and John but, the feeling of being enveloped in Old Word charm, gentility and service came home with us. We shall return to meet Jitka, John and Company soon. This B&B in every detail is a place to remember and a memory to treasure.

Great hosts! Great place! For a 1st ever experience at a B&B the bar was set very high. The breakfast food was excellent. Use as hub to explore nearby wineries or sit outside and enjoy the landscaping

Room Tip: Royal Oak was the best room for couples

John and Jitka are gracious hosts. The Doves Nest is so well done. Everything is perfectly planned for relaxation which is what we did. The various settings they advertise are as described in their brochure. The sounds of the birds that echo in the wooded area are great. Sitting by the Koi pond is just perfect if you want quiet. The rooms are gorgeous as is the entire facility. The location is about six miles from St. Joseph. The wineries are even closer. We can't forget to mention the great breakfast we were served. Jitka is the perfect Hostess. We spent two nights at Doves Nest and will return. We recommend this Inn because of its amenities and is fair priced.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garden Victoria Room. It was at the end of the hall and very quiet. All of the roo...

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay in St. Joseph at this nice little bed and breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully arranged both mornings of our stay, and everything was very clean. We also had a nice ice cream snack on both afternoons! Jitka was friendly and accommodating, we felt at home, and would return again!
