The owner is a very friendly and helpful man, and the location is great. It's an easy walk to downtown Saugatuk. The room was basic and clean. It is affordable compared to many others in Saugatuk. What a great little city to visit!

The location is great, the price is great, and it is dog friendly. My husband and I ended up hanging out with some other guests who were great and the owner is extremely friendly and accommodating. Its not glamorous, but its everything you need and a garunteed great time!

This place reminds me (in a good way) of the motor inns my family stayed in when I was a kid in the late '60s and early '70s on our car trips from Ohio to the western national parks. It's not fancy, but clean, convenient and friendly. After checking the prices of bed-and-breakfasts in town, I found the Captain's Quarters to be much more reasonable and made reservations. When we ended up having to reschedule our weekend in Saugatuck, the owner Paul worked with me in a fair and accommodating way. This is a great place to stay when you're exploring the area!

First year in Saugatuck, we were seeking to be right downtown where all the action was, after researching places to stay, we discovered Captains Quarters. The experience has been memorable both times. Very clean and well managed. Convenient to down town Saugatuck within walking distance (especially when directed to go the right way!) Paul, owner & CEO of Captains Quarters is a very unique person who knows the best stories and tells them in a way like no other. We really appreciate your charm and wit Paul, and hope to see your finished pagoda next year!!!!

Room Tip: Back area away from road is the best.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Captain's Quarters motel twice this summer, both times we found the owner to be kind, accomadating and engaging. This is a family friendly motel and the grounds are well kept and have flowers that bloom all summer long. The property itself is located just minutes from downtown shopping, restaurants and beach opportunities. We had a wonderful time and will be visiting this location again.

Tucked right off the road on Blue Star Highway is the BEST place to stay ... and Paul is a great guy who has done all the right things with this very nice place. You're off the main drag where it's wall-to-wall people everywhere, but you're honestly just "around the corner and down a bit" from it when you're ready to head into town. The rooms are clean and nice ... fresh smelling as well. The grounds are very pretty and offer you an opportunity to sit back and relax if that's your choice. The motel has great history, which Paul will give you if you are interested. It may be the oldest motel in Saugatuck but it is TOTALLY updated and just FABULOUS ... will remind you of Cape Cod with its charm. I've been coming to this town to vacation for 50 yrs. Glad to say I know where I'll stay every time from now on! Thank you Paul ... you have a GREAT PLACE!

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong regardless of the room you choose here. If you want a little more...

It is located just minutes from downtown Saugatuck. It is nothing fancy but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the appearance of the whole site is welcoming and maintained very well.

The owner, Paul, is a very friendly guy who knows stories to tell and places to go. You realize that managing this motel is part of his life and that he does that with heart and soul.

There are comfortable chairs in front of the rooms where you can sit in the evening to enjoy a glass of wine or so. Even if it is located on a highway it is set back far enough so you can enjoy the silence. Walking to Saugatuck takes about 10 minutes which is absolutely fine. If we come back to Saugatuck we would definitely go there again.

We stayed only for 1 night which makes it difficult to find a hotel on the weekends (usually they require a 3 nights minimum stay) but Paul made it possible that we could come there with a group of six.
The price seems to be high for a motel but given that the other hotels are almost double the price and that there are more visitors than hotels in summer it is absolutely worth it!
