1st time visit to Saugatuck 10/2013 for 25th anniversary. We wanted trip to be special. Based on some reviews, hesitant to stay at Serendipity. But, the relatively reasonable cost & idea of breakfast delivered to room won us over (anti-social? -- maybe!).

House is adorable & in perfect location (walking distance of everything). Greeted by David (very sweet) who gave us literature about area (he loves Saugatuck) & showed us to Music Room suite in separate house steps away from main house. Suite is huge with full kitchen, living room, bathroom & bedroom (king size bed). Decor not fancy, but inviting. Suite very clean with plenty of towels & toiletries. Kitchen stocked with dishes, wine glasses, cups & a special coffee blend from Uncommon Grounds coffee shop. Bed insanely comfortable & room quiet. Breakfast basket included egg casserole one day & spinach pie another. Yum! Delicious coffee cake, blueberry muffins & fresh fruit also part of feast. Could not eat everything, so popped food in refrigerator for later.

Saugatuck is awesome (can't wait to return). Ate at restaurants recommended by David. Every person we met was friendly, welcoming & accommodating. Walked up Mt Baldy 282 steps (everyone should try, if able). Oval Beach simply breathtaking.

Highly recommend Serendipity for value, accommodations, service & food. Did not tour other local B&B's & have stayed in only one other B&B before, so frame of reference limited. Based on price of some of the local B&B's (one double $$), assumption is others might have fancier decor or offer more amenities. Don't know. Do know -- Serendipity perfect for a weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Music Room Suite was nice. The suite at the front of the house (Library Suite) has a screened-in por...

First, the good. Location. It's hard to find a place closer to the action in Saugatuck. Grounds and buildings. Beautiful old houses with well-tended gardens and landscaping. Very pleasant. Amenities. Nice secluded hot tub and sauna. Quirky selection of video tapes. Breakfast. Very nice, made with local ingredients, and delivered to the door in a basket. Hosts. Very kind and solicitous. Got us an early breakfast when we needed to leave early.

Now the bad. Upkeep. We had a village of fruit flies in the kitchen. Otherwise clean. Interior. While the bed was nice and comfy and the music theme of our suite was cute, most of the other appointments were of low quality. Shower was tiny and felt like it was going to fall apart. Neighbor. Blasted jazz music all night until I went next door and asked him to turn it down. Hosts should have done that. Price. At $200+/night, the quality should be impeccable. Better rooms can be had for that.

Room Tip: Music room suite has lots of space and full kitchen, but shares the "video tape room" and...

We saw your review of your stay here on Trip Advisor. We are extremely sorry about the all night loud music coming from next door, and have dealt with the problem.

From the main house we could not hear the music, and were told about it the following day from guests in two other suites which had windows facing the neighbor. We immediately contacted their property manager, the tenant, and the City Manager about the situation and the noise ordinance. We will continue to monitor this to make sure it does not happen again.

If we had heard the music at the time or been notified of the problem we would have dealt with it immediately, regardless of the time of night.

As far as the fruit flies, they usually attach to fruit that is brought in. They may have come in with a previous guests fruit that they brought in and had not completely dispersed. We did not see any evidence of them when we cleaned the Music Room Suite prior to your arrival or after your departure.

We are glad that you enjoyed our breakfast and we hope to see you again.

My husband and I traveled to Saugatuck this past Saturday on a whim. We did not have reservations but after calling the Chamber of Commerce, we discovered Serendipity had two available options. One was a room in the main house with a shared bath and the other a suite with private bath. David showed me both options and we chose the suite because we like a private bath. The location was unbeatable. The suite was clean and well maintained. There was a hot tub and sauna available to the guests which is a nice amenity. In the morning, the hosts delivered a picnic basket with breakfast for two including a delicious egg casserole, corn muffins, berries with homemade whipped cream and orange juice. I would highly recommend this B & B to fellow travelers! Thanks for a great night.

The innkeepers, David and June, are delightful and extremely friendly. Their recommendations for restaurants and activities were spot-on. Breakfasts were filling and wonderful. We stayed in the Lily room, which was CLEAN, well maintained, and very comfortable. We had everything we needed right at hand, from locally made soaps to extra pillows and towels. The location is ideal, with all of Saugatuck within just a couple of blocks. We will definitely be staying here next time we visit Saugatuck/Douglas.

We decided to book a short getaway and were lucky enough to get a room here. The place is very charming and the location is fantastic. The room we stayed in, Lily, had a private bath, good a/c and ceiling fan, super clean bathroom (which we are sticklers about), and lots of extra pillows. June and David could not have been nicer or more accomodating and boy, can they whip up a mean breakfast! We were no more than two streets away from everything the town of Saugatuck has to offer in the way of shopping, dining, and entertainment. We would (and will!) definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Lily, the room we stayed in has a private bath. Some rooms do require you to use a shared bath. No p...

My husband and I spent our anniversary here a couple years ago and still talk about it. We stayed in the lighthouse keepers cottage. David was very helpful and we had a wonderful time. Everyone should experience sitting in a hot tub, under the stars, when it's only 20 degrees out.
