“Awesome Place”
Reviewed 4 September 2013 via mobile

Just finishing up a few days in The Cottage portion of this wonderful place.
Cannot say enough about how great this place is.
I have never written a "travel or dining review" ever but this inspired me to do so.
Very clean. Great beds. The owners are extremely pleasant and definitely made us feel like we were at home.
The fridge was stocked with bagels and fruit along with a great quiche
This place has a beautiful back yard with pond to enjoy along with our time on the deck.
We decided to go to Oval Beach and they supplied us with beach chairs, towels and even a beach bag!
Why did I never try a B&B before?
Completely blows away a hotel/motel stay.
Try this place. You will love it too!

But that is perhaps because I am more of a hotel person than a B&B person. I often feel uncomfortable in a B&B like I'm treading on someone else's territory. But at Beechwood Manor that was not the case. It is run in a truly professional manor without being impersonal. Jamie is a true gem. She is gracious, helpful, personable and has a quick wit that will surprise you without being overbearing. She truly made the stay for us even though our interactions were fairly limited.

The home itself is lovely and the location is outside of the commercial area but a pretty, short ten minute walk from town. The room we chose was quite small but had everything we needed. The common area had a kitchenette area with sodas and snacks available 24/7. Parking was a breeze and it was just calm and easy there.

Oh - and the breakfasts were over the top delicious - really more food than we wanted, but they were delicious and it was a vacation...

Highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Don't choose the smallest room if you have a lot of hanging clothes as there isn't really mu...

We stayed at Beechwood Manor in July. It is a beautiful home. Jamie greeted us when we arrived. She is funny and very welcoming! We enjoyed our conversations with her and she really makes the place.

Our bed was super comfy and the room was nice and clean. The house has a lot of historic detailing which we both enjoyed.

The breakfast is outstanding! I really liked the setup that they have in the dining area. We enjoyed conversation with the other guests and got to hear some fun stories. The food is superb. Huge portions are given.

From this point forward anytime we go to Saugatuck we will be staying at the Beechwood Manor! We've stayed at several other B&Bs in the area and we feel this one is the best.

My husband and I had a great stay at Beechwood Manor. The historic house was beautiful, and it was within easy walking distance to the attractions in Saugatuck. A personalized breakfast menu was given to us upon our arrival for each morning of our stay, on which we could select from a number of delicious options. This was a nice touch. Breakfasts were wonderful, and we enjoyed eating outside on the large porch. The innkeepers were extremely welcoming, and they were helpful in providing information and making recommendations and/or reservations for our stay. They also provided us with beach towels, chairs, and an umbrella for our time at the beach. We would happily stay at Beechwood Manor if ever in the Saugatuck area again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Saida's room. Though it was is the smallest room, it provided us with adequate spa...

Stayed at the Beechwood Manor from June 28 - 30 and could not have asked for more. Jamie and Scott do a tremendous job of making you feel right at home. The two breakfasts that were served to us on Saturday and Sunday were nothing short of amazing. Jamie goes out of her way to make sure that your stay at the Manor is a pleasant one. She will even help you with setting up wine tours and dinner arrangements along with providing information about a boat cruise. We took our bicycles with us and this turned out to be a great thing for us. Biking is prevalent in the area and it provided us easy/quick access to all amenities in both Saugatuck and Douglas. We also purchased theater tickets at the local theater. If you enjoy this type of activity, check out the current play, as the theater appears to be new and seating for all shows is excellent. Our two day stay in Saugatuck was the first for us and we enjoyed this area greatly. Our fantastic stay all started with the Beechwood Manor, which is a short walk to downtown Saugatuck. You cannot go wrong with the Beechwood and you will enjoy both Jamie and Scott, the owners, as we did. Any return trip to Saugatuck will include the Beechwood Manor.

Room Tip: Enid's Room is the room of choice

The Beechwood Manor Inn & Cottage in Saugatuck, MI is an historic mansion just a few minutes' walk from the charming downtown. The innkeepers could not be nicer. One is a chef and Jamie has a career in hospitality, which really shows. Food is great, beds are comfortable. Bottle of wine in the room. One can hear the highway, but it is white noise. The town is just a two hour drive from Chicago and maybe a century back in time. Good restaurants with local food. Boat cruises on the lake, art galleries, and beaches if you want.

Room Tip: Even the smallest of the three rooms is fine. The cottage has three bedrooms - good for larger group...

The Beechwood Manor Inn is my favorite B&B to date. They really go the extra mile. It's in a beautiful location just a short 5 or 10 min walk from downtown. The large front porch is great to hang out on and relax with your partner. We stayed in Saida's room and while it was the small room, we didn't mind at all. The large bay window makes it feel much bigger, it has a nice sized bathroom and I was surprised that we couldn't hear anything outside our room with how old the house is. Rooms have aircon, tv with movies on demand, a cute little fireplace and bear-claw tub in the bathroom. The bed is very comfortable and soft. However, our favorite bits were the little things that are done for your enjoyment and comfort. Such as the ready-to-to beach bags made up with towels and umbrellas you can borrow or the fridge stocked with pop and water and snacks available whenever you'd like. Also, the breakfasts there are to die for! When you arrive you get a paper to hang on your door for each night you stay that allows you to select your breakfast the next morning. 3 choices are given but you can mix and match as much as you want. I have never had such a filling, gourmet breakfast at a B&B. I just can't say enough positive things about them. And let me note, I tend to be picky about B&B's, so I'm not just saying this lightly. Next time we visit Saugatuck,we will be staying at Beechwood Manor Inn.

Room Tip: Saida's room, while smaller, does not share a wall with the other rooms so it is quieter.
