“Fun Getaway”
Reviewed 31 July 2010

Visiting Saugatuck was the most fun extended weekend (3days) that we've had in a long time. The restaurants were wonderful, the shopping was fun, the river and riverboat cruise were great, the beaches were beautiful. Really a great time!

“Great for a girl's weekend!”
Reviewed 8 November 2009

This is a great place for a girl's weekend. Spend a long weekend this past September with 8 friends. We rented a home within walking distance from town. It has lot's a quaint little shops, dining options and even wine tasting. A quick drive to the beach too. Can wait to go back next summer!

Coral Gable was great for lunch on the water and the Mermaid Bar and Grill served some fantastic pasta dishes.

“Simply Beautiful”
Reviewed 3 November 2009

We spent a wonderful fall weekend at a bed & breakfast in Saugatuck. Oval Beach at sunset was amazingly romantic, as was the quaint little shops downtown. Don't leave without having ice cream...anywhere! We also used restuarant .com to plan our meals. The falls were amazing (not Niagara, but the hike was relaxing). On the way back home we stopped at a wildlife conservation area and visited some wonderful nature and had a perfect picnic. We will be back again.

“Saugatuck with a toddler & baby”
Reviewed 30 August 2009

we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary as a family and Saugatuck turned out to be a wonderful choice. Oval beach was a great way to spend time and let our toddler run wild and let mom and baby enjoy the sounds of the waves. I would suggest just a picnic lunch and there are clean bathrooms with changing table's too. Additional suggestions on places to visit would be the library in Douglas, this may seem like a strange suggestion while on vacation but if you are with a toddler and a baby this is an excellent choice. Story hour was great and our little guy loved it! There is also a playground in Douglas and Saugatuck that we visited. We did not get the chance to go but there also is a puppet show every Saturday in downtown Saugatuck that is indoors so rain or shine would make for good entertainment. As far as where to eat Wicks Park Bar & Grill, new to the area was EXCELLENT , they even offered to help me with the stroller. The food and service were fantastic and they have great choices for kids and adults alike. The fish tacos were excellent even my toddler ate some and the strawberry shortcake was out of this world. We just ordered one and split it among all of us. the live music was wonderful and the best was hearing the cheers from my toddler and actually getting through an entire meal. The service was outstanding. Looking forward to our next time back.

“Great little town............”
Reviewed 9 October 2007

I have to admit, this town, along with connecting town of Douglas, seems to have it all. Shopping is a main attraction here, with art being a main industry. Beautiful landscaping and old buildings. Visit the old fashioned soda fountain in the drug store, however, it is only open summers. Sad and a disappointment. Also, the hardware store is suppose to be an interesting place, but was also closed. Very, very popular town. Large variety of shopping available. Nice park in town with picnic tables. Nice marina also. Drive the neighborhoods, beautiful homes. Other side of the Kalamazoo River, is Oval Beach, which is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Lots of dune climbing available. Mt. Baldy is 284 steps up, for a great view. Lots of action on the river, good people watching from pumping station/park at Mt. Baldy Park. Nice little museum, and gardens. Douglas has most of the B & B's, and a great public beach on Lakehshore Rd. Must climb several steps to access. Very little parking available. Restrooms, a few picnic tables, trash receptacles. Lovely neighborhood. Douglas also has several fun, interesting shopping venues. Both town beaches offer fantastic sunset views.
