“Glad we took the time”
Reviewed 28 April 2014 via mobile

We were headed to a beer event outside of Chicago, so we decided to head a little out of the way and check out Greenbush. I am definitely glad we did. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Beef brisket sandwich was delicious! My husband enjoyed the beer too! Well worth going a little out of our way!

“Great Beer, Food, and Staff”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

If you are a fan of craft beers and casual (but excellent) pub food, then you have to get to Greenbush Brewing in Sawyer, Michigan. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. Crowded during peak hours, but grab a beer at the bar and make some new friends while you wait. You won't be sorry!

“great beer”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

Great selection of beers all brewed on site. We did not eat since the place was so packed (it was St.Patricks Day) but the beer was great! The overall feel of the interior space was comfortable and trendy without being pompous or uncomfortable. Great long bar and the service was really friendly and casual.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

My wife and I visited Greenbush twice. The first time, summer of 2013, we were there on a Saturday, early afternoon for lunch. It was surprisingly busy but after 15 min we found seats at the bar and enjoyed our beers while waiting for our sandwiches - the BBQ brisket was very good. We don't live in the area but looked forward to our next visit. That occurred in early March, 2014, and was a very different experience. We arrived about 5pm on a Saturday and it was packed with over an hour wait. After 45 min we found seats at the bar and ordered a stout and a porter. We did not ask for tastes since it is rare that we don't like a porter or stout. However... the porter tasted like a dark IPA. Distinct and strong American hop taste which neither of us like. We asked the bartender, who happened to be the manager, to check the pour but she said that's the way the porter tasted. Hmmm. The brew master has the right to make beer the way he/she wants to but no offer was made to sub out the beer or explain the concept. Then the pastrami sandwich arrived. No exaggeration it was 3/4 fat. I literally had to pick small pieces of meat from the fat to have something to eat. I had a bartender ask the cook if, perhaps, my sandwich meat was at the end of the cut but the response from the cook was that's the way the pastrami was. I asked the (same) manager what she thought and she looked at the meat and said that everyone liked it that way. Hmmm again. No offer of subbing to something else. A bit of understanding could have salvaged our visit but we didn't get any. Too many better places to go to.

“Delicious sandwiches”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

Really glad we stopped by here. Enjoyed our sandwiches and sampling beer. We just wanted a taste because we were driving home, so it was nice that we could just order small sample sizes instead of an entire pint or flight. Also liked how I could self-serve at the water station for refills when the server was busy.
