Couples like Simon and Delphine make Bed and Breakfast work as a concept. Extremely welcoming, informative and great hosts. Excellent breakfast and more than enough space for the children to be outside to play. Fleur, their dog, was delightful with our children, 10, 7 and 2. Clean and well kept. Highly recommended for a base to explore.

I chose Castaways based on its location and great reviews. I was not disappointed. Everything said previously is exactly as I found it.

Simon, who was "flying solo" as the rest of the family were away, is the perfect host.

This was my first visit to the area, primarily for birding, and is the perfect location being within the Dungeness National Nature Reserve.

The breakfast is everything a "Full English" should be and I needed nothing further until an evening meal (a 15 minute walk away) at The Pilot, which was superb value.

I would thoroughly recommend Castaways.

Our host was friendly and welcoming and so kind to our young children. The rooms are immaculate and the beds really comfortable. Our breakfast was amazing with the dining room having a view across the beach and the English Channel. We were made to feel the place was home and nothing was too much trouble. This B&B deserves the highest praise.

We are three ladies of a certain age and were looking for somewhere in the Dungeness area for a couple of nights. Were impressed with the reviews of the Castaways B&B so booked 2 nights. Wholeheartedly concur with all the views expressed; the rooms were spotless, beds very comfortable, bedlinen immaculate and shower hot and powerful. Simon is an attentive and informative host. Great cook too. His breakfasts were delicious and invariably more than we could finish. With the dining room at the front of the house we were able to sit and enjoy the morning sun and view while eating. So we were very happy to spend our reunion at Castaways and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to spend some time in the part of the country.

Room Tip: I had a cosy single room which was very quiet as was the twin my friends shared.

Travelling to south coast to visit family with our young son. Warm welcome from fab hosts, lovely family atmosphere, fabulous (massive) breakfasts with views over the channel. Clean, warm, simply but stylishly decorated - just lovely.

If Carlsberg made B&Bs..

What can I say, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel at home. Incredible room, tidy and spacious and the breakfast was superb. I will definitely stay again and recommend to anyone who travels that way. The beach is just a stones throw away and if you like fishing you will have plenty to talk about.

Spent 3 nights here purely on the basis of reviews on Trip Advisor and booked a short break around the B and B rather than the more traditional method of deciding on an area to visit then selecting accommodation. It's in a great location with wide open beach to the front and right behind runs the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway. There's plenty to explore round about, the beach stretching for miles, Dungeness with the lighthouses and quaint, almost foreign look about it with the wooden houses, the nature reserve and local town of Hythe are all worth visiting. It's quiet and you can watch the sun rise over the sea without getting out of bed. Superb location for bird watchers. Very comfortable beds, spotless room, wonderful food and the hosts couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating.

Room Tip: Go for the double facing the sea if available.
