“Lack of service!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

We come to South Haven often and have tried The Thirsty Perch on 2 different occasions. Both times we sat down and waited for 20 minutes for a server to come to our table. The food was disappointing, my baked potato was reheated, probably from the previous day, because it was hard and cold on the inside. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and we will not be returning to the Thirsty Perch.

“Good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

I ate there last week and had a special salmon dish that was not on the regular menu. I would have to say it was probably the best Salmon that I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. It was a bit more expensive for their menu items then I thought it would be. The service was very good good. I would probably go back.

“Expensive Average food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2014

Thirsty Perch food is average, and it's more expensive than other restaurants in South Haven which have better food. We've been there twice in the last 2 months and have not been impressed.

“Good food, nice ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013

I had the pan-fried perch dinner with fries and cole slaw. My dinner companion had the pork chop with a cider glaze which looked like something Fred Flintstone would have (huge!) and we shared the whitefish and artichoke appetizer which came warm with good bread. Both entrees were about $18/19 which seemed a little pricey, but we both enjoyed what we ordered. Service was long but we were gabbing so it didn't matter to us. Service could have been a bit less intrusive, but our server was very pleasant. We sat at a booth and the plain wooden seats were very hard and cold, but I liked the wall mural and decor and woud go there again for perch and that artichoke dip.

“Excellent food, average service & things have changed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

Had not visited for a few years: big changes. No more chalk board art with the on-tap beers, many attempts to make it upscale, but not quite hitting the mark. Menu options were not to our tastes: had always had trouble making decisions, this time there was pretty much only one thing each of us would order: Whitefish and chips, Perch pan fried & deep fried, and perch sandwich. All fish and chips were plentiful (took home leftovers) and absolutely delicious and made it worth the visit, but the wait staff seemed to lack knowledge about basic facts: basic information on the house wines and the craft beers on tap. Service was also not very attentive, although they were busier than they had expected, but was not packed. We will be looking for another location to eat when in South Haven.
