I grew up on a farm and my husband grew up in a city. For me, it was a step back in time to see a piece of history and think about how the farmers functioned. My husband is in the process of restoring my grandfathers 1941 Farmall tractor which still works but needs cleaning and painting so this was research of sorts for him. We love to visit places that keep history alive!

Children big and small enjoy this event! Tractors from 30+ years ago are on display along with other events throughout the weekend. If u or anyone in your family are into tractors this is a do not miss experience!

We haven't been to this place in a while, and recently attended its Antique Engine and Tractor Show. There's a lot more to see since our last visit and the property is just as beautiful as ever. Best time to see the museum is during this show though. Admission is $6 and worth every penny!

If you had one place to visit in Southwest Michigan during September - visit the Michigan Flywheelers Museum in South Haven. The museum hosts this huge antique engine and tractor show every September and it's like taking a step back into history. Don't let the name fool you - there is more than tractors and engines. There's this old town area with exhibits, a neat log cabin and plenty more. It's a great place to take the kids - they can watch the blacksmith make things or see how shingles are cut. The volunteers that work there are very friendly and helpful. I could have spent the day just sitting and watching all the unusual machinery that people were driving around! It's also a great value - only $6 admission per person with kids free.

Located east of South Haven, the Michigan Flywheelers Museum is a great place to learn about our farming history and the lives of early farming families.
Open on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day and for special events, the museum allows visitors to take a self-guide tour that includes an old town area, log cabin, sawmill, shingle mill and blacksmith shop as well as a Farm History Building with displays ranging from dairy farming to "Grandma's Kitchen." Many of the buildings have been moved to the property and renovated. There is the Wooden Nickel Gift Shop filled with items related to antique tractors and engines and a 100 year old barn that is being restored. While some of the exhibits like the blacksmith shop and sawmill do not run on the weekends, but are up an running during the museum's biggest event - the Antique Engine and Tractor Show which is held every September.
