We have stayed at the Sturgis Hampton several times over the past two years, so we can vouch for the consistent hospitality and cleanliness. We've never considered staying anywhere else.
During that same time period they also underwent a remodel, which really brightened up the interior.
Another reviewer mentioned the friendly staff - we've encountered the same young woman at the front desk at each of our stays, and she is very pleasant.
This hotel fills up quickly during the weekends of Notre Dame home football games, so keep that in mind when booking your room.

Room Tip: I would suggest two things: if you like to have the room curtains open, be sure to ask for an upper...

I would stay again. I had a few complaints..... The heater was very loud, breakfest items took a long time to refill, roll-a-way bed was very crappy & they charge $15 for use:( But the friendliness of the staff, the awesome pool & hot tub, great wi fi made up for the few downfalls.

Hampton inn Sturgis is more of a truck stop hotel than a travelers hotel. Maintenance is poor, upkeep event worse. My room smelled like biocide indicating a recent water intrusion. Will not stay there or recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years because it is close to family who live in the area. We feel it is an overall good value and that we can count on the clean rooms and a good free breakfast. The staff is very friendly and the lady who checks us in remembers us each time we come in. She makes it very personal in that way.

This hotel had just been renovated. It was very clean and quiet. The rooms were very nice and the staff was very friendly. We stayed on Christmas night so it was not very busy. The breakfast in the morning consisted of omelets, Belgium waffles, bacon, bagels and cream cheese, muffins, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. It was very nice. The only downside is that the beds have been reduced from queen to double. Not a good decision on managements part. Difficult sleep for two persons in one bed. We will get 2 rooms next time. We definitely will stay here again!!

Very typical of Hampton Inn it's right on the border of north central Indiana and south central Michigan off the I-80 Indiana toll road. It sits on the Michigan side. They have recently redone the rooms. It's well kept and has a portable laptop table you can use while in bed. Love it. I didn't have many needs during my 3 night stay, the front desk staff wasn't particularly engaging or overly friendly when I walked through the lobby daily, but then again i didn't have any reason to engage them. Housekeeping let me sleep late and paid heed to the do not disturb sign. Thank you However, the odor in the water coming out of the faucet is horrible and almost makes you not want to brush your teeth or wash up. Seriously you need to get a system put in, I'll investigate other hotels and water issues before i choose this hotel again. Maybe the whole area has this problem, However i was in people's homes while there and didn't notice an odor like the Hampton Inn's water, hence the 2 stars. BTW, if you are going to main street Sturgis it's a short drive maybe 4-5 minutes. However, the hotels within the city limits do not have as comfortable rooms as the hotels near the state line/ toll road. I would put up with the water odor before staying at one of the hotels in town because the rooms are newer and more comfortable here.

I drive from Chicago to Cleveland often and this is my "go to" place. It is located almost exactly halfway between Chicago and Cleveland. If I leave Chicago late at night, this hotel is the perfect distance to stop on my way to Cleveland. I got into a bad snowstorm going from Cleveland to Chicago and I was able to call from a rest stop in Indiana and get a room. Even though the hotel's address is Sturgis, Michigan, it is located very close to the exit from the Indiana Tollroad. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
