We have family in Frankfort and Thompsonville, so this is perfect. Family owned motel, no frills, but fills the bill. Clean (enough), priced right, safe, and great location for us. Have stayed here numerous times over the past several years with young kids and now big kids. They love the game room!!

I rated this as excellent because for $55 to $65 a night, it is. I stayed there last September for 3 nights with a group of golfers and for a place to take a shower and sleep it was clean and well maintained. I'll be returning there later this week (again in September with the same group) and was informed when I made my reservations that the rooms have been upgraded with new carpet, fresh paint and NEW MATTRESSES (which were sorely needed)..In addition to the rooms the motel also has a large man cave adjacent to the rooms, complete with a full kitchen, pots and pans, dishes and silverware, coffee maker, a pool table, ping pong table, several big screens and lots of comfortable chairs to kick back in at the end of a long day on the course (or on the river in the case of the many salmon fishermen who stay there every years about this time) (and who readily share the salmon they cook on the outdoor grills that are provided by the motel) (there are also fish cleaning stations available too). In the evening, management provides firewood for camp fires to sit around and tell lies about your day :-)

If you're budget minded this place is a great deal. If you're looking for more upscale accommodations perhaps you'd be better suited staying at Bay Harbor..Next week the wife and I will spending 3 nights there for a conference..The standard rate is $465 with the conference rate being $240 and while it's considerably nicer, if it hasn't been upgraded they still don't have flat panel TV's either...(and breakfast will set you back about $20 a head plus tip)

In most cases you get what you pay for but in this case you get a lot more...

Happy Trails

Room Tip: And BTW...there's a little gas station a couple miles east on 115 that has the best Sicilian piz...

We are glad to provide a review for a one night stay this weekend at Mountain Valley Motel. The room was clean and remodeled with fresh pain, bedding, and carpet. The A/c unit was loud but that is unavoidable. We only needed the room for sleeping purposes and for the price- you cannot reasonably except anything more. We would recommend this motel to anyone who just wants a place to crash for a very economical price. It is not so far from Sleeping Bear Dunes- which is what we did over this weekend.

At first glance I thought ok, this isn't so bad... It's a cheap room 1990's tv but it does have direct tv, ugly picture on wall decorated from the 80's, no head board stand up shower. Weird signs posted on walls regarding towels. I decided to check the bed and sheets before anything. Mattress looked ok cheap but newer. Turned back the blankets and there was a jumping spider! Killed it. Found a pill on the floor that my son could have grabbed if I hadn't found it. There was a women's hair on the sheets that looked kinda dirty. Then I killed another spider crawling on the floor then another BIG hairy black on crawling on the wall. Honestly I was afraid to stay there. The carpet was newer also was the paint but wasn't worth it because of the bugs...

The beds were very hard. Pillows were pancakes. Only 2 pillows in the room. We were unsure if the sheets were clean or not we just didn't get that clean sheet vibe. Pillow cases were clean. Staff was friendly. Small tv and refrigerator as promised. My advice bring your favorite pillow from home and a sleeping bag if you are a clean freak. Mattress would not have been bad with a nice pillow. 1-2 miles from resort and a local bar with great staff. I would stay again for the price.
