My partner and I went to the Baskerville for a relatively late 8:30/9 meal on a Monday night. Although it was quiet, it did not put us off - (we usually like a bit of atmosphere). Soft music was playing and the evening was delightful. Service from a blonde girl ( I believe her name is Hannah ) was great, nice to see that service staff are not afraid to start casual conversation sometimes. A rather large wine list was pleasing to read and we were delighted with the 'The Fathoms' Marlborough - white wine, light and crisp - great after long hot day. Food was fantastic - particularly smoked haddock starter, nice to see something other than the usual 'smoked salmon'. Fillet steak was gorgeous - tender and full of flavour. My partner who doesn't usually go for fish and chips went for it and was so pleased - fish was chunky and as requested batter was thin (A pet hate... To find the batter thicker than your fish!) Looking forward to going back again - we saw a great outdoor area and we both noted that BBQ cooked every Sunday... This will probably be our next visit. Highly recommended to all food and wine lovers.
