Owner description: Located on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, the Dennos Museum Center offers an ongoing array of changing exhibits in the arts and sciences. The museum holds and exhibits one of the largest and most historically complete collections of stone sculpture, prints and drawings by the Inuit artists of the Canadian Arctic, in the United States. Its hands-on Discover Gallery features interactive engagement with the arts and sciences. The museum produces a concert series of blues, jazz and world music and other entertainment forms each year from September to May in the center’s 367 seat Milliken Auditorium and hosts performances by other community groups throughout the year.

The Dennos Museum (at Northwestern Michigan College http://www.dennosmuseum.org) has the second largest collection of Canadian Inuit (Eskimo) Art (spectacular prints, carvings, and fabric) in the US. I adore Inuit art and collect prints. I was at the Dennos a week ago for the annual conference of the Inuit Art Society, my fourth visit, and was again wowed. The other galleries are equally spectacular and the gift shop has many Inuit items for sale.

If you are curious about art of the Pacific Northwest this museum has a wonderful collection, and we also happened upon a terrific glass exhibit to honor the 50th anniversary of art glass in the US. Fascinating and fun.

Thank you for visiting the Dennos and for your review regarding our Inuit art collection. Just a small but important clarification regarding the location of the Inuit art work's origination. The Inuit art in our collection comes primarily from the Hudson Bay Arctic region of Canada, rather than the Pacific Northwest. Glad you enjoyed the collection.
