“Awesome!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2012

My family and I stayed in the Log Home and it was incredible. Beautiful home that was spotless upon our arrival. There was plenty of room for all of us (7 adults, 2 children and 1 dog). Everyone loved it. The property was gorgeous. We all wished we could stay longer. We will definitely be back and definitely recommend this resort to anyone

When we started planning our family vacation, we had to make some tough choices. Some of us really like camping and one of us (Mom) strongly prefers hotels. So we searched for a place where we could vacation that was somewhere in between.

We chose Windjammer Resort and had a great time! The atmosphere was very family friendly and we look forward to going back again someday.

We stayed in cabin #8, which was spotless, comfortably furnished, and modern. It has a master bedroom and another bedroom with bunk beds, along with a pullout couch. It has a large balcony overlooking the lake. The lake is very clean and the small resort is quiet. The manager is responsive to your needs and friendly. Overall, it was a wonderful week in Michigan.

We stayed in cabin number 7. It is a 3 bedroom cabin. It has a queen size bed and in the other two rooms were two bunk beds. The carpet is not in the greatest condition but the rest of the cabin has a very excellent clean modern look. The kitchen and the living room are all one great room. There is a beautiful view of Spider Lake. This was a great place to vacation. They have a cleaning staff that really prepared our cabin with a nice clean bathroom and the Manager Ken was very accomadating and is in the process of getting the cabins in good shape. We have read the reviews and understood that what was in the past was mismanaged. That was not the case when we were there.

First we arrived in cabin 8 and everything looked great. But when we started to move in, we started realizing things most of the classes to drink out of where not washed. Our screen door would not lock. our TV took 1 minute to turn on and when it did all the colors were red.

You may do what you want, but I would suggest for you to save your money.

No complaints! Great double bunks. Cable tv available on rainy days. Stocked firepit. Row boats always ready w plenty of life jackets. Lots of decking overlooking large beach of sand. Liked the little cottage but will get the big cabin next time. Great helpful staff!

Wind Jammer Resort on Spider Lake is a great place to stay. We rented cabin #5 the week of June 25 - July 2, 2011. It had all the comforts of a vacation cottage on the water. For the value, this was perfect for our budget. This cabin has 2 bedrooms up with full size beds and 1 bedroom down with a queen size bed. In the kitchen/dining area of this unit it has a good sized table to seat 4-5 people, a full size working clean almost new refrigerator, clean almost new microwave, modern 4 burner stove, full size oven and coffee maker. The counter space was adequate with a two compartment stainless steel sink. The water heater worked great. One evening we were able to accommodate a small gathering for 9 for dinner & entertain comfortably. We brought an electric skillet but there was ample supplies of pots & pans and it had nice plates and silverware for our 5. We had a huge pantry with lots of storage.
We had 5 people comfortably stay at the cabin - 2 adults, a teenager & 2 toddlers. The carpet and walls needed TLC but it is a cabin that has had previous renters and that is understandable of the age of this unit. Cabin #5 has one bathroom with new tile flooring and a bathtub & shower. Also in the bathroom is a nice like new working washer and dryer.
We had a color TV with Charter cable in the living room that had two couches overlooking the peaceful view of the lake. There is a window air conditioner and there was a box fan to move the air around when it got hot. Most of our days we had the screened windows opened with the fresh air to cool us down and yet protect us from the mosquitoes. There is a porch with deck table and chairs and a charcoal grill again giving us a great view of the lake. Before the stairs to the lake is a nicely shaded common area with a fire pit. Our kids were very safe to play in the common area in front of the cabins and also down at the beach level. There is an observation deck as you can see with the with two older picnic tables connected to the common area and a nice bench swing and safe steps down to the water. Maybe 20 steps down to the water.
The beach again gave our kids a safe environment with a swimming dock and a separate dock for us to park our 15 foot Boston Whaler. They have 3 row boats to use. The manager of the Windjammer Resort was very accommodating. We could not have been treated any better with such great care by him. Ken really cared about our stay and proved he cared about the upkeep. Windjammer Resort had some bad reviews in the past and they really focused on the a few negatives and failed to point out the great things it offered. Ken started in the spring of 2011 and has made great improvements. This is a diamond in the rough. We will be back again.
We were able to go through Cabin 1 ,2 & 4 and they had the older style design but were clean and each had there character view of the lake with equal access. Cabins 6, 7 & 8 are newer exterior & interior remodel log cabins. Some of the cabins carpets had their sand foot traffic on them. The big cabin that we looked at was beautifully built tucked in the woods behind the group of cabins. it had two good size jacuzzi tubs in each bedroom. The impressive great room/Bar /Kitchen was humongous with a nice size porch on the front. We were very curious to what the opportunities this would bring.
Spider lake near Traverse city has great bluegill fishing opportunities with the boat launch just southwest of the cabins about 1 mile away. The lake has a no wake time zone of before 11 am and after 7 pm that made for a chance for us to enjoy the peacefulness with a cup of coffee in the morning and a quiet evening of toasted marshmallows every morning & eve. "Did we already say we will be back again?" Can't wait for our next adventure at the Windjammer Resort!
